I'm curious. No doubt many of you have pets. Hopefully more cats than dogs. After all cat lovers are people of fine and noble character. But anyway, I have a few thoughts and questions:
Any funny stories of your pet and your game? Like did your dog ever snatch a Marine to chomp? Or cat leap onto the table and rampage through the battle like a furry squiggoth?
And some people seem to think your choice of pet reflects certain things about you as a person. Such as character traits. And if this is true could it also reflect upon your choice of army or how you play the game?
I have a cat myself. His Furry Majesty Skreebo. Skreebo the Splendid. And while he delights in trampling my manly bits every time he sits in my lap he's never once laid a paw on my models. I have many of them sitting on my table and they're left out for days and days on end. Secure in the knowledge Skreebo won't decide to bat a poor Guardsmen around until he loses it under the fridge.

I've used my pet african bullfrog as a counts-as Great Unclean One sometimes. It works best when he is asleep. Actually once he really got into the spirit of it and regurgitated his lunch on some Blood Angels.
Then sometimes he acts as a spontaneous Orbital Bombardment which is only amusing when he lands on other peoples models.
I have a cat, too. He used to take an interest in miniatures and such (going to sleep on them) but for the past few years his energy has been taken up with miraculously surviving three kidney failures and coming back to life once and scaring the hell out of the vet. I'm not making this up.

my kitten Smudge tried to eat a half-painted guardsmen last night...
Consensus suggests that cats count as squiggoths

I've got a pic somewhere of my praying mantis (Manty - original i know)reading WD before he died....
And Snowy (black hamster) used to chew anything left within reach of the cage, mostly WH chaos warrior swords, when she was alive....

My cat (Mr. Plato Snapdragon) only gets involved in apoc. games. During which he likes to charge his girth back and two across the battle lines. He also enjoys shedding all over my freshly primed models.

My sisters cat (I'm not allowed to call it our cat. Things get thrown at me...) often likes to curl up with her face in white dwarf, especially if the Standard Bearer page is left open. Other than that she hates the hobby; the slightest smell of spraypaints appear to be her worst nightmare, and she wont come in to the house unless it's very dark outside. Odlly, even when I've been spraying in the garden!

That's a cat with a hell of a will to live Eldargal!
What a coinkydink Sneakyben. I had a kitten named smudge. Sadly my ex-fiance killed him by leaving him in the car on a very hot day.
These are great stories. Keep 'em coming please.
When I'm working on models Skreebo often is laying upon one of his several thrones watching me. With that look of disdain on his face that only cats excel at.

My chocolate lab tried smelling my squad of space wolves once, and got one stuck up her nose.:D:D After that she now stays away from any miniatures.

My dog Harley, when he was just a pup, found one of my imperial guard dozer blades to his liking and chewed it to pieces. It's now a feature on the base of my scythed hierodule, it looks suitably mangled.
:D
Although he has chewed my Inquisitor model of Simian (how spiky!) to pieces, which i still havent replaced

My cat enjoys jumping on the table and demanding to be stroked while I'm trying to paint. She once knocked over a pot, stomped in it and put paw prints all over the table before I could grab her. Luckily I got her before she hit the carpet. And my dog once got hold of my Tyranid codex and ate the front cover. The rest was left miraculously intact.

My cat like to hop up on my desk while my back is turned, ninja style, and drink all of my paint water, then disappear before I turn back. Glad the paints are nontoxic, but I can't imagine they taste good.

2 cats. One likes to knock miniatures onto the floor - the other likes to bat them under the couch. I think its a team effort to ensure I spend more time on their level.

My family has a pet tortoise, originally given to my great-grandfather in 1932. Despite his age, he's still very active and when I started playing Rogue Trader would rampage across the battlefield causing havoc to both sides.
He also managed to destroy the Blood Bowl polystyrene pitch by digging his claws into it and trying to burrow...
I will also confess to regularly balancing Space Orks or RTB01 Space Marines on his shell and using him as an impromptu vehicle. And occasionally as a super-Gargant in original Epic.

I have 2 cats and 3 dogs. 3 large dogs at that.
Funnily, the dogs have never done anything to my miniatures, but the cats....
One of our cats, Akira, is not particularly smart. If he jumps up on a table that has one thing sitting on it, in a sea of empty space, he will still land on the object.
He is also a rather jumpy, anxious cat (even before the dogs).
You can see how this goes when he decides to jump up on the gaming table mid-game... Many a game has been ruined by him running through knocking everything over.
He also has a taste for paint brushes, but only brand new ones it seems. He loves chewing my new, expensive brushes.
Our other cat, Kenji, likes to swat dice when you roll them. So, if you a rolling a stack of dice and he happens to be next to the dice box or table, he will paw at the dice, usually before you have a chance to tell what you have rolled. Unless you roll a 6. Then you will see it, and he will hit it over to something more to his liking, say a 1 (this has happened a few times).
I know cocked dice are covered in the rule book, but what about cat influenced dice?
Ah, the joys of living with animals.
(p.s. I'll post a great pic of Akira as the Hive Mind later on, as it's on my ladies' computer).

Here is Akira - Destroyer of Worlds.
Caption could read:
"From the Warp, The Hive Mind appears..."
Or, alternatively:
"I disapprove of your unfinished models"
We all knew this thread would descend into pictures of cats, right?

You guys are going to love this one. My pets fit in absolutely perfectly with my army. Well, our pets really, they are shared with my wife:) I play Imperial Fists, but let's face it no animal will make you think of space marines, right? Good thing my other army is Skaven. Onto me yet? Here we go! I've got 13 (!) fancy rats. How Skaven is that?
I haven't let any of the rats close to the minis though, as they could hurt themselves, but I do own an exalted vermin lord that is going to be a homage to my favorite rat that passed away last year. Funny thing, even the small females are large that the mini, and the boys… Let's just say that quite large:) They could easily make an HPA looks small:)

i have three cats.
the big two (leo and george) dont bother with my mini's but the little one (suzi) scratches her face on sprues (lazy git) chews spear tips from goblins and generally harasses me every time i sit down to do any thing mini related (yes she is the Mrs' cat LOL). Leo (my cat) often helps me find those little bits that you always seem to drop (looking at you marine heads grrrrr) he knows when i have dropped them (usually by the profanity LOL) and comes in to have a look often leading me to the bits haha
our 1st cat (molly) used to sit with me on my hobby table while i did stuff, she was no bother really but she liked poly cement (the pear drops scent must have been nice to her), she never tried to eat/drink any but she did spill an entire pot over my table and i didnt notice for about 4 hours LOL i was stood in the dining room "eh? where is that smell coming from?....... it smells like pear drops?...... OH NO THE POLY!!!!!"
no pics of cats with mini's but here is a one of leo with one of my other hobbies

My cats love the weight of finecast. I've found several finecast servitor bolters under the couch.
Fortunately I magnetize so now I just sweep a telescoping pointer (like an antenna) and sweep up the loose parts they play with.

Before I got my gaming table sorted I played on the floor. The one time my dog decided to fall asleep on the courner of the board. Unfortunately, his breathing caused his chest to rise and fall which made balancing models on him a bit of a challenge.

It seems there's more than one kind of Siamese. Mine was a Himalayan Siamese. Named Gizmo. And it would seem almost all Siameses are...shall we say..."of nasty disposition?" Gizmo surely was. For a couple of years she absolutely loathed me.
And then inexplicably she suddenly turned on the sweetnees and adored me. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, or any other part of its anatomy, I seized the chance to bond with her. She turned out to be quite the sweet little lady.

My cat Nicco (yes very original I know but at least I changed the spelling), is a total b**** when it comes to my hobby, sit down to read a WD, she sits on it. Go to paint my models and she will jump up and headbutt me face when I try to lean down to see what I'm doing. Have a game at home she will climb up and sit on a model usually a tank and defend it with angry cat claws or once a poor defenceless assault marine that too this day is in her toy box.

I'm fortunate in that Skreebo has no interest in such things. As cats go he's a rather boring cat. He doesn't do "bad kitty" stuff whatsoever. His single greatest offense was one night he decided to piss in my bed. While I'm in it. I have no idea why he elected to do that. But there was half asleep. I rolled over and one leg hit a rather cold spot. That kind of cold that its not certain if its damp or just cold. As my nearly asleep mind wrestled with this I became aware of coldness above and below my leg. Then my eyes opened wide suddenly as the horror of what it was dawned on me.

Ding, ding! A winner! Yes (two corgies actually) and no, not named Ein but I had stuffed Ein at one point. One of the real corgies chewed a hole in him.
Neither of the corgies has ever attacked my warhammer figures but given how short they are perhaps this is no surprise. I did find a little plastic corgi (from a 1964 toy corgi-vehicle set) that I glued to my IG commander's base to represent his 4th Edition "trademark" item.

My mates cat rocky used to jump on the table when we were playing necromunda that he was dubbed "The Necromunda cat". Any models knocked over counted as taking a S3 hit or fall damage from whatever height they were at.

I only know this breed through a brief summer job I did many years ago. Hired to take care of a local doctor's llamas and corgis. They were rather nice little critters despite being dogs. As for the llamas...wretched and loathesome beasts they are!
Because I'm sentimental like that I've been wanting to do a cat themed Space Marine army. Even using tigers or lions in a calvary way like the Space Wolves uses those wolves.
