Good going! I'd think they're easily gaming quality.

How fast are you getting through them?

Well those took about 4 hours each .. the tactical and assault were a bit quicker due to less detail needed. I got my black reach set and assault squad about 3 weeks ago and i have one thing left to paint so i hear that isn't too bad :)

Geez, you've really being going for it! Having said that it's entirely possible that I'm the slowest WK40K painter of all time. Looking forward to see more.

Cool, keep up the good work. So what have you got planned for the bases? I would be trying to pick something to neutralise the red...........but seeing as these are your first miniatures, I would suggest something easy-peasy.

4 hours isnt bad, Ive been painting now for 10+ years and while my average miniature looks a lot better than what it did when I first started, Im still spending about 3 hours on each. Hmmmmm, I still have the second miniature I ever painted at home somewhere (Abaddon), see if I can find him...........21 hours later, I was pretty impressed with the result, hehe.

haha well i've only really seen the bases in the GW shop and i am going in there today after work to have a 'basing' lesson :) I do like the look of the gravel and bits of grass sticking out so i'll see how that goes :) Are you posting a pic of your second mini? i'm interested to see how it looks.

Again, nice stuff for a newbie.

Advice time.......
Your washes are a bit on the heavy side, try not to let it pool in the middle of the pads. With gold try dry brushing the detail boltgun, then gold, then very lightly with a 1:1 gold/silver mix to add highlights.

In my opinion good painting is 10% natural talent, 20% technique and 70% practice. I think you've made a great start.

For your first start it looks good , The technique your using is good for beginners with the washes . I taught my son how to paint using the same method now he is moving on to more advanced stuff . You have a lot done so its hard to switch up but priming the model white giving it a wash of badab black works better with the wash technique since your colors witll go on brighter and your washes will cast better depth . Your paint is going on a little thick multiple thin coats is way better than one thick coat also getting into this habit will make it easier when you start to learn how to blend .

Iam going to give you some wash pointers that work well when using a lot of the washes . For a good gold , paint on a layer of bolt gun metal give a light dry brush with chain mail than wash it over with the sepia gold wash . silver metals same thing except hit it off with a wash of the black . For flesh , base coat with dark flesh , dry brush with elven flesh than wash it over with ogryn flesh wash . scrolls and white cloth , base coat with bubonic brown , dry brush with bleached bone , than light dry brush with white , than wash it over with the brown wash devian mud I think its called . Also with the scrolls and purity seals no text looks better than lines going across , if you feel the need they have to be very fine to look decent . For the red I have a very nice way of doing it fast and easy , base coat with the foundation red than get yourself hot orange from the vallajo line of paints and dry brush that on than wash it over with the red wash . That ' s why they have the different color washes I know you can use the black and brown for a lot of stuff but it looks so much better if you use the rite color .

hope this helps , keep up the good work practice just makes you better .

for a first time painter your work is great and the more you paint the better your technique will get. I agree with all of the previous critiques about the washes, keep it up and you will be producing some stunning minis in the future.

hehe, I wont post it here, so keep an eye out for it later (Im at work now) in its own thread, though compared to what Im capable of now Im a little shy to show it off. I might just start a thread for everyone to show off how far they have come............

Might I suggest something for the basing then if its not already too late? Generally when I base an army I stay in theme with the army, eg my Death Guard are ship to ship fighters so have deck plating on their bases. So for Blood Angels, maybe a base type of radioactive sands of their home world Baal?

I have literally sanded them, nothing else so they are standing in sand .. i was going to paint it grey and dry brush it white for gravel and add bits of grass but i like your idea better i think :)

Sweet, well, I have no idea how radioactive sands are supposed to look like, I shall leave that entirely to your imagination!

Dont forget to take pictures......please.
