Hi all

Having wrestled some free time away from the job I'm keen to get stuck into several ambitious modelling projects. (the pile of stuff is currently dominated by3 landraiders & 5 dreadnoughts)
I was hoping that any UK based modelers / gamers could recommend who they use for supplies, I'm especially keen on finding suppliers who will do whole sprues, not just bitz and modeling materials/ terrain bits ie rod, card, plasticard, foam, foamboard /core etc.
Reading modeling articles / project logs by Americans & Canadians means that finding equivalent products or product names can be slow or fruitless.

I'm in London if it matters.

Any particularly good sellers on ebay would be great too.

Thanks and sandwiches

I'd recommend finding a model shop that isn't GW

I'm thinking model trains/airplanes

I have a store that is mostly scale model aircraft (the remote controlled kind) and they do a lot of foamboard and rods.

For clear rod i've used www.theplasticshop.co.uk before and got good stuff from them

4D Models are really good: www.modelshop.co.uk

They do supplies for architects' models and much. much more. I haven't used their online store so can't comment on speed of delivery, customer service, etc. but their actual shop in Aldgate is great.

I first went there to get polystyrene spheres to use as the basis for BFG Roks and have never looked back.

I'll second this. Just about the best range of plastic rod and tube along with every kind of foam board for terrain. They lack a little variety on the plasticard type sheets as they have a wider range of thicknesses.

They even packaged my last purchases (too big for my bag) up with a cross body strap made from plastic wrap so I coiuld still cycle home!!

Not sure about whole sprue suppliers. My most regularly used bits stores online though and Bits and Kits and Let The Dice Decide.

Couple of other places worth a look in London - Orcs Nest near Covent Garden/Seven Dials and Dark Sphere near Waterloo station do 20% off in store and 25% online (you can pick up instore and still save 25% on GW if you spend the right amount).

Cheers all, some great tips in there.

Ta RebelGrot I know Dark Sphere, in fact am headed there this afternoon but will investigate Orcs Nest too.

Am off to the nearest Hobbycraft in deepest Croydon this weekend, with the hobyists' "ooh that will be useful" eye I just know I'll need a flat bed truck to get it all back.

Any further recommendation would be gratefully received.
