I'm starting a 500 pt necron army. 15 warriors, 10 scarabs, lord, cryptek. This is my first attempt at painting, so any advice would be great. I painted two warriors one traditional and one different. I was going for a rotting skeleton look. http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/w381/planet_psyrum/Snapbucket/F6770DE8-orig.jpg

I think I am going to go with the bone like one because of its originality, and I can put in some fluff on why they are that way. I painted them with a bestial brown base, then drybrushed dwarven flesh, then bleached bone, then a delvan mud wash. I think it looks cool. Like I said this is my first attempt painting

WOW SHIZ is that your first attempt at painting? thats AMAZING! that even better than my 20th mini :D

i really like both of them! whilst the bone one is really original and cool! youve pulled off the metals on the other one really nicely!

what id do is have the vanilla guys (warriors, scarabs, ect) silver and the command and elite units bone, or just all bone :D

some great skills you have there! i see a future GD winner if you put the effort in :D

Here is my first squad of warriors. I did them all bone. I think I am going to do the lords and crypteks silver, amd any machine ie. Wraiths, destroyer body, scarabs, and barges black. http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/w381/planet_psyrum/Snapbucket/D0AE392D-orig.jpg

This how the army came to me, in pieces. I believe all of the models were purchased when the new warriors came out, like 8 years ago. They were all dry brushed red and silver. I put them into simple green for a night amd got to scrubbing. The other picture is a cool convert. You can't really tell but there is an ig mortar round in its chest cavity, he is missing a head. I'm working on finishing 15 warriors. I have enough bits that i think I am going to make a cryptek and a lord. http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/w381/planet_psyrum/Snapbucket/C7D4C8D0-orig.jpg http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/w381/planet_psyrum/Snapbucket/0D35BF83-orig.jpg

I like the bone like one, much different from the typical necron, and i have always found the typical boltgun metal necrons to be hideously boring, if only because its so common.

This is my first conversion!!! It's a cryptek. I made the body out of broken warriors. The eyes i filled with some type of clay that doesn't dry. The eye is the end of a bolter, I think, cut thinly. The hardest part was positioning the hands to hold the staff. If you look the model has very small forarms and wrists. The staff is made out of wood, wood elve banner, and a space marine axe. I'm not happy with the staff, but that was best bits I had. The cape is a wood elve cape, and his loin cloth is bat wings I found.
