Just finished the book.
Liked it a lot.

I really enjoyed the tremendously circuitous tie-in of way old 40K fluff of how Abbadon tried to clone Horus after Horus was killed, and thus created the Black Legion, but it was fraught with genetic instability. Now we know the 'why' and the 'how' that happened, thanks indirectly to Corax and directly due to the Alpha Legion (they are pretty bad@$$ in every appearance they make).
Also, contrary to most other fluff, the Alpha Legion seem to be the least affected by Chaos, choosing not to flee into the Eye of Terror. One would think you could field them as a normal looking army since they are nowhere near as susceptible to warp mutations as those legions that did flee into the Eye.
