Hey guys
Anyone else read Legion of the Damned?
I feel that its not *exactly* true to the established fluff of the Legion. From what I've read of their existing fluff, they're just warp-mutated Legionnaires who continue to serve their remaining days to the cause of the Emperor's most desperate champions.
However in the book, their "physical" description isn't exactly like that.
Am I misinterpreting the fluff?

If you re-read the White Dwarf release of the Legion back in January 2010 then they are described as ghostly figures: a supernatural aura of flames...
This will give you the latest fluff-aspect of the Legion of the Damned
I thought the book was good but did not spend enough time on the legion. Maybe a series of smaller novella would have been a better format.
Having said that I am glad it was not a Space Marine Fap-fest!

A LOT of LoD fluff relates them to a lost space marine chapter called the "Fire Hawks'.
I just read the LoD excerpt in the back of 'Deliverance Lost' and it seems like GW is tying the LoD to the Excoriators, a descendant founding of the Imperial Fists. If that is the case, then that sucks. I would like to see the fluff and rumour of the Firehawks come to life.
Meh, either way, I will read it when it comes out in April.

The book is 95% excoriators - and its available now in ebook format from the blacklibrary.com site.
I guess the idea of them being ghosts is cool - I guess I wasn't up to speed with the latest canon.

For me, one of the best parts of the book was one tiny little bit that I missed on my first read:
Brother-Sergeant Attica Centurius, Honoured First Company: In dedicato imperatum ultra articulo mortis.'For the Emperor beyond the point of death.'
That was great because I just recently managed to track down a Sergeant Centurius. I'm thinking that Sergeant Centurius needs to be a special character that unlocks the Legion as Troops choices.

Oh man Centurius is oooooooooooooold school. He came out when, Games Day '99 or something? Maybe before that?
