Hello!
I was told today that there is going to be a 40k 25th Anniversary Model released on the 25th of February - like Harry the Hammer it will only be available for that weekend and will be in finecast.
Sadly I have no more details beyond that, so if you have an idea of what it is let me know! I am most curious indeed, especially given the nostalgic throwback of the Games Day model this year...
Sorry it's not much of a rumour yet, but it was news to me so thought I'd share and hopefully someone in the know can come forwards!
Would be nifty even if it will probably be another Marine. I wouldn't be surprised if this came from someone getting muddled over the Games Day mini or something but I'm hoping it is true.

It would be sweet if it was Kor'sarro Khan on Moondrakken...just high hopes...

Nothing wrong with Marines :)
But I can't wait to see this one
I'm sure it would be a marine, them being the poster boys of 40k, I think it's more appropriate then anything else. Though I would agree that likely someone thinks that the games day model is it , which makes sense to be fair, as Harry the Hammer was the fantasy 25th anniversary model so why not this one. Though at the same time, maybe the games day model will be advertised as the 25th anniversary model.

If the rumour is accurate than it almost certainly will be a Marine, and if it is a Marine I would expect it to represent something about 1st ed 40k. The popular theory on Warseer is that it could be the Ultramarine on the cover of RT waving the Orks head (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/b/b7/Rogue_Trader_FCover.jpg). It is a sound bet but personally I feel it is a little dull, I'm hoping GW does something a bit more interesting. A diorama set with Sister Sin frying the Rainbow Marine (http://imageshack.us/f/8/1236543186096.jpg/) for example hehe.

The Marines on the front cover of Rogue Trader are actually Crimson Fists.
The cover represents the moment when their Fortress Monastery fired all of its missile silos against an Ork Invasion, only for the same missiles to go straight up and come straight back down again.... :)
You can see the missiles heading straight for the marines on the back cover. :)
If it was going to be Rogue Trader related the two forces in the Battle at the Farm mission were Pedro Cantor and his Crimson Fists versus Orks.
I would imagine then it would be a Crimson Fist mini, but we already have a model for Pedro Cantor which isn't that old.
It could be the Ork Warboss from Battle at the farm, can't remember his name.
The first boxed sets were RTB01 Marines and Space Orks, so possibly a nice beaky Marine of some sort?
I would like it to be an Ambull though!! :)

I'm sure this idea shouldn't get me as excited as it has done lol.
Space Marines have always been the iconic image of 40k, so there would be no way a 25th Anniversary model could be anything else. As for being the Crimson Fist on the front of RT... I don't think that was as iconic an image as Hary the Hammer was. Maybe this Crimson Fist captain could be more iconic?

Or possibly (maybe only because I started in 3rd Ed) the Black Templar Chaplain with the skull shoulder pads from the 3rd Ed cover would be appropriate;

What did they release for the 10th and 20th anniversary?
Would they re-release the Emporer/the primarchs?

One of the guys on Warseer suggested a model of an actual Rogue Trader.
I like that idea, could be a nice one off model for a limited period and would be appropriate.

All Marines look the same to me. Don't get me wrong, fine people. But I wouldn't want my daughter to marry one.

The Emperor?
I doubt they would do any of the primarchs / the emperor, unlees it was him on the golden throne, that I could see as a maybe, but unlikely. I would still say it would be something from Rouge Trader, but that's just me theorizing with nothing to back it up with.

Its pretty much guaranteed that they'll have a 25th anniversary celebration like they did for fantasy (my harry the hammer really needs to be re-done..) and yep, space marines are the iconic figures for 40k so it will be a space marine. Hopefully it will be different from stuff we have atm, ie, it would be hard to convert a similar model without greenstuff

Sure it will be a Space Marine....but could it be a Chaos Space Marine....and maybe someone from the Horus Heresy...Like Aximand....I know GW does not usually do rules for Black Library stuff but a Loken model would be awesome.

I'd be down for a badass, resculpted version of the Space Marine Iwo Jima diorama they used to have from the Skullz promotion.

The 25th anniversary WFB sculpt was Harry the Hammer, if anyone remembers:

Doesn't really tell us much about what the 40k one may be, though I would be surprised if it were a special character.

I wouldn't considering the price I just paid for the original....
Although A second one to paint would be useful....Now I'm torn.
I really should paint my Harry too.

Any rumours of 'collector's editions' of th rules like they did with fantasy. I still have my copy tucked away with its first ed rules, safely stored and never to be used... Would be good to see a set with original RT rules and would also let them get rid some of those 5th ed rulebooks before they shortly become obselete.

I bet it will be a miniature of Matt Ward in power armor. Wouldn't that be a smashing good idea?

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but certainly gives credence to this rumour.
I finally managed to get hold of my copy of this month's White Dwarf. On page 19 it says that the February WD, website and hobby stores will all be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of 40K.
That may or may not suggest a 25th anniversary model in February, but it's certainly possible.
Seems odd as I am sure I remember Rogue Trader being released in the Summer?
