Highlighting blood red?

so i thought of mixing the red and white like you would do with anything else, but.... that's pink, is that really the correct highlight for red? What do you guys use to highlight your blood angels? (i'm highlighting red robes by the way)

Use Blazing Orange to highlight Blood Red. Doesn't take much though so be careful or the orange becomes too obvious.

I suppose it's late to try to convince you not to use Blood Red at all, so Blazing Orange is my suggestion too. :D

Blazing orange is good but you could try a mix of 50/50 with blood red, its a bit more subtle :D

Blood Red -> 1:1 Blood Red/Blazing Orange -> Blazing Orange -> 1:1 Blazing Orange/Vomit Brown - > Vomit Brown

the 2 colours to highlight red with (for me) are yellow (and because of the blending that means orange) and flesh tones! i dont know why bt paints like dwarf flesh highlight red nicely!

but i think the real problem is that your using blood red as a base coat, but it is a VERY strong highlight colour! so you could shade it?

here's how it turned out, mostly the baal red did a nice job of shading and making the edges pop out.

If you look at 'eavy metal team from gw, and how they highlight blood red, they use it like phoenix said. blood red, then blazing orange, and then vomit brown. Follow up with a baal red wash it is looks great.

I add white to blazing orange to make it a softer more pastel tone- not intense orange. And then add that in increasing amounts to blood red giving a highlight that is not really orange or pink, but somewhere in between.

I know its cheating but a devlan mud wash makes red pop really well
