I need some advice. I have 10,000 points of Wolves already, but with the new release coming, its time to start over.

My old army has every colour from the Dark Fenris Grey Foundation paint to Codex Grey and everything in between.

What I want is a single army that matches front to back.

I need a good looking grey for the wolves.

What do you recommend?

My most recent attempt has been a base of Fenris Grey, highlighted with Space Wolves Grey.

Any ideas?

I am looking at buying and building about 3000 points of Wolves on release day, so I need to get a good colour scheme tested.

Thanks.

How bout a dark and gritty scheme? A base of Charadon grey/ adeptus mix. Follow with a thinned black wash. Highlight with adeptus codex fortress and a final of space wolf. Trim and runes done in white.

If you look at the pics, it looks like GW is moving away from the grey-grey of old and bringing in a new bluish color that looks more blue than grey.

Its a gw balancing thing. They made the new wolf list uber strong so they balanced it by nerfing their paint scheme. Lol

No no no, what they're really doing is converting them to shades of blue over time so that one day... BAM! Space Wolves are actually UltraSmurfs!

They are already starting to looklike ultra smurfs who got left out in the sun

You could try a Fenris Grey base, a Badab Black wash, and then highlight with Shadow Grey and Space Wolf Grey.

Space Wolves have been blue for a long, long time

So, I think this is the definitive answer to the new Space Wolves color:

Me: "Okay honey, I just want your opinion on a the color options for the Space Wolves i'm getting ready to paint. In the past, they were this steely grey (I show her) but now they're moving towards this light blue (again, I show her). Which do you think?"

Her: "Well, are they supposed to be the Space Wolves or the Smurf Wolves?"

Me: "Point taken."

So there it is.

Ok, well I will get some pics and post them later, but what I have tried seems to look pretty good to me.

I based a Land Raider in Fenris Grey, then I washed all of the lines and corners with badab black. From there I drybrushed the model with Astronomicon Grey, making sure to leave it a bit rough and "weathered".

I then marked out the panels and such on the model in tauscept ochre. It still needs a lot of work, but I am really happy with the result so far.

I will add a couple more highlights tonight then take some pics.

Ultrasmurfs? i'd like to see that, Smurfs in power armour, led by Papa 'Calgar' Smurf all dressed up :)

It could actually be a new codex...
