Hey are there any stories of a rouge techpriest working for the tau? I mean there's whole organizations of heretical techpriests that use science and OMG "innovation" to advance the quest for knowledge outside of the adeptus, so why wouldn't they join up with the tau? have the tau ever captured any forgeworlds?

No, Mat Ward hasn't written Codex: Tau yet.

Amirite? Huh, huh?

Well the tau have annexed whole worlds, so I don't think it'd be impossible but they certainly would be rare. But simple fact of it being possible means it would not necessarily be Ward worthy. For that you need utter balls to the wall nuts.

Since GW likes to play up the idea that a Techmarine's knowledge of technology consists entirely of litanies of I hope the emperor makes this work, I'm not sure how much use a traitor would be.

Though you would imagine a tech priest would still be able to tell the tau how to put together a good many things. Plus, the way I understand it, tech priests aren't that rare and exist in good numbers on most imperial worlds as, basically, a mechanic, them being quite low rank. Though I also would imagine that they would not know nearly as much about war as we assume, I would think that they specialism into that sort of role much like engineers do now. So the value of such tech priests would be to augment agriculture and manufacturing sectors of Tau worlds, only some would have knowledge of weapons, though the Tau would be able to reverse engineer said knowledge, unlike the tech priests.

Most of the worlds the tau have annexed have been sparsely populated by the standards of the imperium. Capturing a forgeworld may be beyond the logistical capability of the little blue skinned commies at this time, considering the reaction to the description of a hive world in the last chancers or cain series (can't remember which one, but think it's last chancers)

I doubt it for a number of reasons. 1) Tau technology is more advanced than the Imperium, they don't really need techpriests. 2) The earth caste actually understand how the stuff they make works and they make new stuff. Your average techpriest is capable of neither of these thing. 3) The Mechanicum owes it's loyalty first to the machine god, then the Imperium. They might betray the Imperium, but would find it hard to abondon the machine God (unless fora Chaos one). The Tau hold no truck with the machine god.
