Just starting some Grey Knights. First up Mordrack's Ghost Knights. These Ghosts are WIP, still have to get the basing right. But they are far enough along for feedback.

I like them.

I've thought about what I'd do for a ghost knight unit - I don't play GK, but I might someday, and I like coming up with ideas for paint schemes - and I think it would be something like this.

My opinion, however, is that the eyes/sword should match the colour of the rest of the knight...would make them look more ghostly, I think. As it stands those bits stand out from the rest of the models too much.

the only advice is to make the eyes pop a bit more and shade the base a bit!

but apart from that those are some really cool models!

The bases are not done by far. They've just had a wash so far. And I am still practicing on OSL to get the interaction of two sources to look right. I originally intended to do them all green, but the models just didn't pop as much. I thought picking out eyes and sword would give me some visual interest. One of this batch still hasn't had the highlighting finished as well. Mordrak is underway as well as the other 4 knights for his retinue. I expect to have them completed this week. Next up will be my interceptor squad. If I can stay focused away from necrons...

Redid weapons. Added 5 more knights as options to fill out full unit. Kept color of rest of ghost knight. Converted and started Mordrak. I need to finish bases yet, but im happy with the knights themselves.

What did you use to get the funky ghostly look on the models?

The ghostly green was just following the 'eavy metal tips for the ghost ship in dread fleet. At least initially. Then just working it to make it look right.

Great conceptualization of the Ghost Knights. They remind me of the army of the dead from LotR.

As others have said, very nice ghost effect. I do admit that I don't care for the red soil bases in contrast with the green knights - I think grey would be more fitting. As it stands, they risk looking a bit Christmasy.

Have you thought about making them more noticeable? I mean, imagine painting them a very bright blue, and doing (not sure what the cool kids call it) reflected blue light on the edges of the armour panels around the eye plates, as if the eyes are burning with a ghostly flame.

You're definitely right about them needing to be a different colour than the rest of the models.

Also, they look really good so far, please don't think I'm criticising.

I started with painting the eyes a different color and the weapons, but it didn't look right. I settled on just picking them out in white. I recently saw someone else who had a similar paint scheme but used skeleton heads, I liked that idea and wish I would have gone that route, but ultimately this is a fluffy unit and not terribly effective in games.

And speaking of, I had to use the Mortis dread to counter the ineffectiveness of my ghost unit! Yeah...that's the ticket!

Seriously, cannot help it these guys are so very effective in games. Too bad they didn't add sky fire to auto cannons. !!! Ha! :eek:

Fantastic work on the Techmarine. The combination of bits really fits the theme and makes the model pop. The details and subtle OSL work really well. I even like the desert base :)

Crowe is complete. Sealant is very glossy, I plan to do a matte spray on everyone to kill the shine once done. But this sealer has been very durable for me.
