Ok so my most recent army project has been Imperial Fists. The Dreadnaught and Terminators were the first models I painted and I'm somewhat pleased with how they turned out, though the Terminators look a bit flat for my liking. I really got the scheme down when I painted up my two Tactical Squads and have now added the Captain, Chaplain and two Devastator Squads. Hope ya like:

Oh and as for the Shield Bearer, he's like Azrael's helmet bearing watcher in the dark, just there to carry wargear. I didn't want to mess up the Captain's pose by slaping a huge Storm Shield onto him so I figure, if Azrael can have one, so can I! And I took some spare Guard parts, and a spare Termie Sergeant Storm Shield and gave my Captain a little Huskarl shield bearer.

I also updated the yellow on my Terminator Librarian and Chaplain but didn't get around to taking individual pics of the Changes. Still to go, 10 Tactical Marines, 6 Assault Marines, 16 Scouts, 6 Bikes, a Land Speeder, 5 Command Squad Marines and Lysander.... well I'm getting there I suppose.

Nice job on the yellow army! Imperial Fists have been one of my secret desire armies for a long time.

Yea I had long wanted to do an Imperial Fists army and with the Foundation paint Iyanden Darksun I finally can. If you look close you can see the Terminators and the Dreadnaught both are slightly different shades than the Tacticals, Devastators and the Captain, that's because those were the first models I had painted and I had yet to perfect the scheme. I might go back and strip them down and repaint them but I'm not so sure, they look alright for now.

Thanks, I just thought that if Azrael can have one than so can I!

no lysander

And? Lysander isn't an absolute necessity after all, though read my posts thoroughly and you'll see that I do have a Lysander model yet to be painted.

I agree, very nice!

Thanks. :)

Really like the shield bearer model. Kutos for the attempt at a hard color scheme to paint as well. I know foundations make it alot easier to work with some of the brighter pallete i find i still can't get a nice yellow sheme i like so i stick to blues and oranges.

Very nice work.

Thanks, it took me a while to get the scheme I wanted down even with the Foundation and what I eventually came up with was this:

2 Coats of Iyanden Darksun
1 Coat of Golden Yellow
1 Highlight coat of Sunburst Yellow

That's the scheme used on the Captain, Tacs and Devs and it gets a good color I think. I tried 1 coat of Iyanden, 2 coats of Golden and a highlight of Bad Moon yellow which resulted in the Terminators and the Dreadnaught was 2 coats of Iyanden, 1 of Golden, 1 of Bad Moon and a highlight of 70/30 bad moon/skull white. The Terminators looked a little too bland and the Dreadnaught was too bright so I focused on getting a good base color and brightening it a bit but not too much as multiple coats of Golden yellow tended to do.

It takes some experimentation but it's a LOT easier than it used to be, 10+ coats of Golden Yellow just to get the base coat was far too daunting to attempt before.

Nice job!
What model is the Captain?

The Captain is a rather extensive conversion and bits bash. The head is from the Black Templars upgrade sprues, the backpack from the Dark Angels Veterans sprues, the torso and legs are from the Tactical Squad sprues, the arms from the plastic Captains sprue. The Left hand is from the Terminator Librarian blister and the sword is from a Grey Knight Terminator. Then of course the holstered pistol and purity seals are from various plastic kits and the lamp hanging from the back of his waist is also from the Black Templars upgrade sprues.

The shield bearer is a Cadian model with converted arms holding a Terminator Sergeant Storm Shield.
