Howdy. This is my muh thread to record the progress on my gaming table. Comments welcome. I'm not planning on extensively explaining anything here, so if you have questions just ask.

Some people are having trouble viewing the above link, so I'll try to post the images here, also.

Nice work so far, it seems really solid, though personally I would have built a small bit off to one side to stick reserves and dead models and the like, or a place for people to roll instead of on the board itself. Just my two cents though.

Since the board I bought from Home Depot was originally a 8' x 4' MDF, I do have a 2' x 4' section still available, however, the size of the room wasn't going to permit me to include it. It's a very small room! I do really like the idea, though. Maybe when we move into a new place, I'll have to build a new table. :)

I am considering adding "walls" to the board frame though to allow players to throw the dice without having to worry about the dice falling off of the table.

imgur does allow embedding, but I have no idea how to go about doing that or if embedding is allowed on these forums. Anyway, here are some more pictures.

I will comment on these. After my last round of dry brushing, I felt that the board was too bright. To mottle the look, I mixed a cup of water, a tablespoon of the darkest (base) color and a bit of tea. The mixture has a fine ability to wash out bright colors and dries into a caramel/rust color. Since the mixture is so sloppy, you're essentially "washing" it onto the board. Either do this outside or lay down a tarp so you don't stain the floor..!

I decided that the board was unrealistically flat. I selected some areas and slathered on overlapping layers of watered-down wood glue and a mixture of sand/pebbles. I repeated the process until I was satisfied with the shape and texture of each patch of rocky ground. The glue dries clear, but as you can see, I'll have to repaint the board.
