So... I'm starting to plan out a Word Bearer's army and, true to the fluff, I want to include lots and lots of cultists. The problem is that I don't want them to just be Guardsmen (Guardspeople?) with the eight-pointed star painted/scratched on them, I want them to look like they're described in the WB BL novels/ like they look in the Dawn of War videogames.

Something like that.

Does anyone know of any company producing a miniature that would be suitable?

Well, Wracks might make a good base: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440232a&prodId=prod1230016a

You'd need to do some headswaps and such, but they have a similar look.

Or Plague Monks from Skaven... http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440086a&prodId=prod1040494

The Flagellants from Empire are a bit more upright, so they may be better. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440093a&prodId=prod10006

I don't really know the ranges outside of GW very well, though... sorry!

I recommend the Flagellants. They're a plastic kit, so they're easy to convert, and they come with lots of colorful little bits that will allow you to ramp up the crazy look of the cultists. Also, they're a heck of a lot cheaper than the Wracks, and that's important because I assume you'll need at lot of them.

Also, it's good to see someone including cultists in a Chaos army, even though silly GW doesn't have them in the Codex. Are you running this as a counts-as army? If so, what do they count as?

The Wracks do have more of the look I'm after but at £4 a pop... bit steep. The Flagellants however, at £1.55 each don't look as good but are much more affordable...

Hmm. Food for thought. Cheers chaps.

Sprinkle them together. Problem with using Wracks is theres only 5 of them, so even with all the headswapping, you'll run out of variety. Also Wracks are pretty stationary looking, i imagine cultists running around all crazy like

But they do have a good back base for all the same stuff on his back.

No counts-as, I'm going to run the cultists as a separate detachment using the army list in the Siege of Vraks books alongside Word Bearers and summoned daemons using the regular old CSM codex.

If anyone gets sniffy about me using an IA book (which I can't imagine, I don't do tournaments and rarely play 'pick-up' games) I'll just use the IG codex I guess and run the cultists as conscripts.

I think I'll use Wracks as squad leaders DrLove. Maybe as Enforcers.

Games workshop actually produced cultist models they looked dark elfy. There's also the posessed from mordheim as well as figures from other specialist games. I echo what has been said about flagellants. Throw in some marauder parts too.
