View Full Version : Is someone attacking Warhammer webcomics?

Two weeks ago Servants of the Imperium came under attack by hackers and is still not back up. It is obviously a terrible shame that someone would do something to such a good webcomic. This is not the first time that a warhammer based webcomic has come under attack by hackers. Secret life of Mobs a fantasy based webcomic came under attack a few years ago and shut down completely. Gone to Ground was also attacked by hackers towards the end of it's run. I think it may have stopped updating at that stage, but I am sure that the attack featured in its decision not to continue- the creators had mentioned an idea for a follow on strip involving DKoK and the Black legion, which never materialised.

I can name a few warhammer webcomics which never came under attack- ninjabread, eatatau, TSOALR, and the very infrequently updated golden throne. Of those only eatatau currently updates regularly.

Is somebody attacking warhammer webcomics? Will servants of the imperium survive? Does anyone have any other examples? What do you all think.

I read plenty of other webcomics (the only 40k comic I read is Servants of the Imperium, most of the others I didn't care for for various reasons, I have so many other webcomics that I like that if one isn't good quality and updates reasonably frequently I won't bother).

Hacking attacks aren't very common, but I have seen them happen to other webcomics. As I mentioned, I tend to stick to webcomics with higher quality art and plot/jokes, and it seems that they tend to get their stuff sorted out fairly quickly and come back. Hopefully SotI will do the same. Either way, I don't think someone is specifically targeting 40k comics, just a bit of coincidence there.

no one's attacking warhammer comics any more than they would attack any other site. Most likely, it's being brought down because it's an easy target.

It's primarily due to the fact that the sites are easy targets. Though I never have done so, I do know how to hack myself, mainly to protect my own sites from assault and I'm sure that independently made war-game sites would have numerous flaws that hackers would be more than willing to exploit. Generally they have no real target, apart from the occasional raids by 4chan, rather they just hack who they can

Well, Wolf and Sister has never been attacked, but I donīt know why the others have been so...

Maybe a server thing?

I miss TSOALR to this day, it was my favorite webcomic. Servants of the Imperium is awesome also. The only one I can currently get is Wobbly Model Syndrome, but about a quarter of their gags I just don't understand. Probably because I'm not up on the latest memes. Why can't they pick on somebody who deserves to be taken down, like plastic dud-men. It's sooo bad.

I never knew of that one. I really like it.

Wobbly Model is awesome! Probably the best 40k webcomic these days!

Have you read Servants of the Imperium? If it ever goes back up, that is.

The SotI site is back up. It hasn't been updated yet, but all the old strips are back up, and it shouldn't be too much longer until new strips are posted. :D
