I just went through all 25 pages one at a time to admire the incredible work you have done. Your skill is impressive to say the least. This is the reason I enjoy this hobby, to see talent and imagination take form. Truly amazing work and thanks for sharing them with us.

The army itself is still huge and there will be many more things that hit the auction block . That all said, I am looking for feedback as I plan to rebuild the army at some point in the future. Its ashame medical needs come first but its good I have the things to sell to help with the bills.

Just came across this thread, as reccomended by Aldramelechs Forum Burp.

Firstly my thoughts are with you, your wife and your family, I hope our very silly hobby continues to provide a positive distraction for you.

As many have said your work is excellent, my favourites are your nurgle vehicles on the last few pages, the tenticle theme has tied them together into a very fun collection, I especially like the tenticles reaching to control havoc launchers and combi-bolters - changes them from infected tanks to something with personality - vital in any scratch or conversion work imo.

It is no criticism of your work but titans in general leave me a bit cold, your plague towers however are a world apart, thank you for posting the pics.

Do you have any further pics of the mk.1 Land raider, did the client post painted pics by any chance? I'm in the process of custominsing a forgeworld one bought from ebay and would love a little more inspiration.

Im really glad you like the tenticles.. Alot of people dont, saying they need to be more deseased or detailed. I personally like the smoothness because after painting it looks great compared to all the other filth and GS work.

I can did up more pics of the land raider. I know I have some on my old digi card. The client is actually goiing to be painting it rather soon. Ill post pics as soon as he does.

Oh no worries on the titans. I generally leave them blank or with minimal detail as thats what the clients like to do. Most people hire me just to build the basic one so they can do the detail themselves to make it match thier own armies. But yea, I personally need detailed ones to play with.

Detailed Warhound (Cant take credit for the design itself, I simply copied it and built my own as its way to good not to)

I came across ther design for this version many many moons ago. Ive never posted it anywhere because frankly it took ages to build and would never have been fun to build for others. The original designer is a true master with the plstic card. Once I saw it, I had no choice but to make one myself for my own ad mech army. Over time they turned to chaos so the titan fell to the back of the painting table never to see paint. At this point, ive had to start seling my own personal army and this guy is no exception. Medical bills add up way to fast and since all my auctions are stuff ive converted myself or scratch built, I can always remake them when times are better.

So, my loss is your gain by far.

It has the full works. The Plague Mortar with area made to fit crew models if you so choose, it has both demolisher cannons as well as a kick butt pus cannon (my fav (yes that was a fith element quote). It even has nurgling huts and exit ramps and hatchs all around it as per the rules.

I only wish I could keep it but sadly, I cant. Maybe someday ill make another but until then, I hope it finds a good home.

Relisting the possessed vindicators as the buyer changed his mind... (what the hell is with that these days) as well as found parts to make another possessed vindicator to make a full "line breaker squadron" out of them.

Also putting up an entire obliterator cult of destruction. in 3 separate auctions. 4 oblits in 1, 3 in the other and 2 in the final.

Also the baneblade plague tower conversion has just a few hours left as does the nurgle mech defiler. Bother are below retail so if your in need a good deal on nurgle stuff, nows the time.

The Apocalypse Style tower is not in the specific auction but I do have plans to sell at least 2 more on ebay before finally running out of parts. For those that have been praying and having well thoughts for my wife Sarah, they ment alot. But sadly 4 days before thanksgiving, she passed away due to complications from surgery.

I havent had the energy to get online or post anyone nor do any modeling. Ive actually been in shock. She was EVERYTHING to me. the love of my life, the one that completed me. Without her im lost.

I feel pathetic even posting this but I think I need support from my friends. Anyone that has gone through what I have, or advice in general im open to it. Here, PMs, email or hell, even a phone call. I could really use the support.

Ive tried so hard to focus on something else but after the funeral, I couldnt bring myself to do anything but sit here and feel like ive died inside.

I appreciate everything everyone has done for me and I know for a fact that the support here for Sarah and all the kind words for her helped. She looked forward to knowing people that didnt even know her, could care about her.

So enough sad rambling from me.

If it wasnt for you guys, here on this forum, id be lost for sure.

(lowers head and wanders back into the shadows.)

I'm so sorry to hear that :(

There is absolutely no reason to feel ashamed for grieving. Everyone knows (or can at least imagine) how devastating it is to lose someone that close to you. It shakes you to your core.

I lost my dad about 2 years ago, and It was months before the shock wore off. I wasn't a very productive person for long time afterwards, and that's okay. It takes all of your energy just to survive - anything else is just bonus. If you can survive through this, you've proven yourself to be a very strong individual already. Don't get down on yourself for struggling with it. That just means you are human.

It does get better. It's a long, slow haul but hopefully you have some happy memories and good times to get you through the bad times.

I started doing weekly meetings with a local pastor/counselor, and it really helped me (it's free too). If you have any family who is close or might become close, try to set up a weekly meal or something, so they can help be your anchor through this. I found that the routine is handy, plus it gives you something small to look forward to each week.

A place where we can all come and help each other either with painting, modeling or just emotional support like right now.

If it wasnt for the support ive been getting i would truly be lost, unable to function or even want to.

I thank you both very much for caring about a fellow gamer and make me see whats important in life, including having someone, and in this case, 2 people, live within me always.

Ive been trying to stay focused with work and modeling when I get really sad. Sarah always supported me in modeling even after Erin passed. She even started to paint withme. So when im really sad, I look at the few models she finished and it sorta helps me model myself so I can take my mind off all of this. Its been so very hard...

I hope to get some stuff posted soon but I had to sell most of my things to pay for the trip to her funeral as she wanted to be buried with her family. So dont laugh if what I post isnt the best stuff.

I just want to thank everyone for the posts, PMs and all the other support. Its literally saved me from the darkest time in my life.

For anyone wishing to show support, ive taken the advice of a few close friends here on various forums to start a blog spot to help let out the sad feelings as well as try and move forward like both Sarah and Erin would want.

Its a bit bland right now but I plan to update it very often as its whats keeping me from being so down about not having either of them in my life.

Well, after the passing of my son around this time last year and then the passing of my wife, Sarah just last month, I've been rather closed off emotionally. After getting alot of support from the various forums, namely BoLS, Warseer and Heresy Online, its time to try and focus on the positives in life. Remember the good memories and not the bad.

With that in mind, ive decided to start this blog (http://miniaturewargameconversions.blogspot.com/). It will cover all things modeling from converting, which will be a major focus to painting and sculpting. I plan to start small with a Son of Horus force I've had in the works the past few days. After that Ill move onto a few larger conversions and scratch builds such as a Chaos Fellblade along with other Chaos super heavies.

I just hope that this blog and the work done for it can even remotely make Sarah proud of me, in whatever place she may be. If it wasnt for her support after our son passed, I'd have given up the hobby all together.

This is for you Sarah and Erin.

So now onto the first unit. I plan to use BA rules for the stormraven. I went with a silverish sea green. The current pics are a bit dark but you can get some nice views of the base, modified from a Dragon Forge base.

well....erm.... i personally use tycho as he has tasty rules and is the cheepest by far.... he comes with 2 different states (one where he is death company and one where he is sane lol)

but my all time favourt has to be the sanginor 3+ inv sv and oober hard in combat but the points do tend to make me think twice, but a definate no brainer if you have the points to burn....

its really all dependant on how you want to play.

and i love the paint job on the death comp =]

I dont really ever play, so its more of a display army that will hang out at the local GW store in the display case. So i guess any character that has cool wargear that i could put on a converted model would be perfect.

I have always had a weak spot for tycho though lol..

Wooooow. Your work is breathtakingly awesome. Any comment I could write would be meaningless in front of all the amazing conversions you are doing.

I think Papa Nurgle should give you the title of Daemon prince, kick that old lazy Mortarion out of his throne and give you his job so that you can bring a new age of decay and corruption to the universe.

Another model for the counts as Death Company squad. Mix of metal and plastic bitz. Im not really sure on him, hence why hes still a WIP on the paint job but I cant place what I dont like..

Nice, consistant work Redstar. The washes are working extrememly well with the green and the metals. My only critque would be that the washes seem to overpower the lighter color areas, making them lack in definition a bit. This can easily be countered by adding a single highlight layer to the lighet areas before washing. Just on the hichgest points of the model, not all over. This will increase the overall depth of the white/light areas making them pop a bit more but without loosing the creep/yuck value you get from the mucky brown wash.

Keep it up, Redstar, looking like a really good Nurgle army!

A mix of brown and red would be my preference, somewhere in between the colours of the purity seals and gun holsters.

This army kind of reminds me of John Blanche's stuff when they occasionally have it in White Dwarf, although I'm not sure why.

I really like that super-sized combi-weapon on the ironclad

First 10 man Tac squad done. I will finish the bases soon and get them mounted, touched up then matte sealed. I did indeed change the Sgts head to better fit the squads theme. Plus the head fit what I was needing for the Dev squad Sgts head.

i have some ideas for tutorials: any scratch built work you have done.... such as warhounds or thunderhawks would be great =], obviously i would understand you not willing to give away all your secrets, but i would be greatful for any help you could give....

Nice work Redstar. Enough little changes to make things interesting, especially the bases. The paint scheme is very consistant, it really holds this together as a cohesive looking force. Bet it looks great ona a table facing an opponent.

So, I ran out of Metallic Green and had to make more. Took a bit of trial and error to get it exact to my first batch as for some reason this batch of Chainmail wasn't very silvery so to speak. I didn't want to mess up any models so I dug this guy up, popped a few bitz on to finish him, mocked up a base to match the completed ones and blamo, done! And his metallic Green is spot on! Yay!

Nice model. The one thing i would change if you could is lean him forward slightly so it looks like he is running forward to slice with his right hand, atm it seems slightly limp.
Otherwise good model

Finished the Honor Guard squad for the Chappy. They will ride around in the raven with the painted dread on back. The small creature/familiar is just a token to show the unit has furious charge with the priest. When the priest dies, the token goes away. Similiar familiars will be used with other priests as well as if a unit has red thirst.

MWC is also having a monthly conversion contest (http://miniaturewargameconversions.blogspot.com/2011/07/julys-conversion-contest.html). This month its for 40k characters, named ones or independent ones that can be fielded on their own. There are prizes in the form of GW gift cards for the top 3 as well as a runner up prize chosen by the MWC staff. Started yesterday and ends at midnight on the 20th.
