I look forward to hearingit, I really want to have a go on this game. Is it possible to create heretics who fight out of desperation rather than hatred for the imperium?_ I want to play a character who has been "outed" as a psyker- he's loyal(ish) to the imperium but they want him dead- so he has to fight to survive.

My buddy picked up a copy for me at GenCon, and I am friends with some of the 40kRP guys over at Fantasy Flight and have done a little bit of playtesting on Rogue Trader before my girl was born recently.
Anyhow, I'm a big fan of Black Crusade, and I think that it is right up there with Rogue Trader which in my opinion is still the best of the 40kRP titles. My only real complaint with the Black Crusade book is that there is a large amount of artwork, most of which seems to be by the same one or two artists that should absolutely never work on 40kRP books ever again.
One of the offenders does a large number of the black and white illustration in the book, and while technically good is far too "cartoony" for a 40kRP book. Some examples are the b/w chaos power armor and terminator armor. Also, the person who did the Dark Eldar illustrations in the back is pretty bad as well. It's like someone took art from the codex that was really good and threw it into a Photoshop filter that makes it look anime like and disproportioned.
The other offender does a bit of color work. Again, it's just far too cartoony for a book that is supposed to be about playing the followers of the dark gods.
Otherwise, amazing book! Definitely worth the purchase!
