Got a game 2moro against imperial guard, thinking about taking a unit of 20 kabalite warriors, (obviously on the ground) was just wondering if anyone had experience with this size of unit and if they are survivable!? the guard I will be facing is a mixed list of big block of infantry (30-50) and 2 vendettas, plus sentinels, hellhounds and a leman russ, and some missile teams! any advice would be appreciated!
thanks

I've found them very good for holding objectives in cover in my starting zone. Give them a Dark Lance and/or some fire support to help them deal with tanks. The Hellhound would be a priority to deal with.

Use I use this unit religiously
20 men, with a Hemonculus if you can for instant FNP in cover is incredibly difficult to shift without a dedicated assault or a lot of flamers.
It also puts out a serious amount of firepower, with up to 48 poison shots. Using this unit (with Duke Sliscus I should point out) I have killed a Trygon Prime, a Demon Prince, Fateweaver, a full Nob Bikers unit and lot of other stuff in a single turn of shooting. Putting a lance into the unit can also help with some long range AT if the rifles are out of range.
Basically this unit is awesome.

I also use the 20 man block alot. with the duke they usually get two or three pain tokens. drop the sybarite with blast pistol and add a second darklance, if u use them right nothing will get close enough to use the pistol and if they do you got the duke and plenty of warriors to handle most hand to hand combat.

He will be trying to psycher battle squad it any chance he gets so you may be better off starting it in reserve if you just want it to hold an objective. If you do start it on board you have to be very careful with it since losing 5 warriors in one turn will mean the other 15 are guaranteed to run off the board.
Then again some ig players don't use pbs so this advice could suck. It is a very nice unit for drawing firepower, although I think grotesque do that a little bit better for the points.

That blast pistol should be swapped for a darklance or blaster, and if duke is with them they get his ld9 anyway. The hellions deserve an agonizer over a power weapon, the pw wont be over s4 with furious charge, 5 with the drugs. Agonizers get a discount there so go for it!
Oh, and you might even swap out a unit (maybe the mandrakes) for baron sathonyx. That stealth will help keep you alive longer and he can break of to counter charge, then hnr back out to expose them to your shooting again.

If the battle squad is used a 7 man team will lower to leadership 2 and if 5 models die the unit would run with a vendetta or marbo 6" away to make sure they run off the table.
Against guard I think a 20 man squad is a very poor choice and boats is a better option. Most guard range weapons easily bypass fnp. If it wasn't for the vendettas expect hellhounds to roast your guys turn 1 or 2, it's really nasty on the outflamk. Also throw in that most guard players have heavy flamrs on their chimeras.
Remember that guard is very anti-infantry at heart.

In agreement with previous poster on Hellhounds, but that's a general given on hellhounds and similar weapons: units that can project flamer templates are absolute death for Dark Eldar as a general rule, including their tanks. Make these units a priority whenever possible.
