Independent Retailers and pre-orders?

My local independent retailer states they are no longer able to accept pre-orders on GW new releases, because of the new marketing policies in place about new releases and the time available before they hit shelves.

Is this something that has cropped up in your area too or have they figured out some way to make it work?

I work for an Independant Retailer, and we're able to order things with no problem, we just have a shorter lead time now. Does your store buy directly from GW or through a distributor?
