Knew that'd get your attention.

I haven't found a Dark Eldar army list that really clicks for me yet so I'm doing a modwelling project for now.

All 8 special characters, all plastic, all female:

Sliscus
Malys
Vect
Lelith
Drazhar
Sathonyx
Rakarth
Decapitator (whose actual name I'm too lazy to look up)

1. Duchess Sliscus
I started this a while ago, the idea was a character that was very decadent and relaxed, sprawled on a chair. I made it a hover chair so that it can move. I've revamped my colour scheme with some extra metallics and gloss.

2. Lady Malys (WIP)

Malys was a real challenge as a lot of her fluff isn't very visual so it's hard to make her distinctive. I chose the fan as a way to define her and made it really big (it was also a b@st@rd to convert). I used the high elf archmage as the body, a more relaxed daemonette head and a sword from fantasy empire, as I felt it fitted her quite well. The base is the spirit vortex from the new cronos kit which is to represent her ability to predict and influence fate (like I said, hard to visualise).

Next up: Paint Malys, convert vect using the IoB mage as a base.

Duchess Sliscus: Love, love her. I think the pose is unusual and really helps differentiate her from a thousand other archon conversions out there.

Lady Malys: The bladed fan idea is great! So is using a daemonette head (although I can see a lot of people who do not like those heads criticising you for it). I would re-think the sword, or make a point of painting the hide bound to the blade as skin. It's a great sword, but I think that because it's been seen so many times on empire models that it can easily confuse the viewers conception of the model.

Can't wait for The dark Lord himself!

I actually love the modeling you've done on Lady Malys! I think the pose is dynamic and fantastic! I would love to see how it turns out painted. I don't see any problem with her blade, but I do agree with the idea that you should paint that sheath on it in skin tones. It fits with the rest of the DE army and will make it an interesting piece.

Keep up the good work! :D

I like the duchess a lot. The posing ist very cool and decadent - the idea with the antigrav-throne is cool. Donīt like her main-color but thats a minor mali

For the Lady I think a smaller fan fits her more. Actualy she looks nice but she looks like a knight and I think thats donīt fit her fluff. But youīre right she is hard to visualise.

That is amazing. How did you make the throne?

Thanks all.

Throne is mostly a hellion skyboard with ravager upthrusters. The seat is from a vyper (left over from other conversions) and the throne back is from the high elf dragon prince (again from another conversion). Banner is from the raider withe a dark elf corsair sea serpent top.

@lilloser I'm not much of a fantasy player so the sword isn't so familiar to me. Problem is the DE really only has one sword design which could get pretty boring if used on every character.

@archon The red was to make her stand out from the throne and i thought sliscus would be a bit flashier. I did try a smaller fan but I couldn't find the right pieces, I'm thinking it helps back up her 4++ save?

I absolutely love the throne conversion, and cant wait to see the second model painted, these look awesome. If I were ever to play a DE army I would so make it all female.

whilst im still not sold on some of the painting the rune on the throrne and the rose freehand is FANTASTIC! some bits do fell like some of the painting is lacking (the legs sorta blend into each other? it may be beause of too much gloss ornot so good photography?)

anyways the conversions are excellent!

The only thing I don't like is the daemonette head, it makes Malys look like a daemonette instead of looking like an Eldar. Otherwise both models are lovely.:)

I agree. It throws off the whole dynamic feel of the model. The new daemonettes are especially hideous.

I'll admit that if I had been in charge of the daemonette design I wouldn't have chosen the caveman brow option.

Finished Malys, not my best painting but the unpainted conversions are starting to stack up again and I want to get this project done before I go on holiday at the end of the month.

3. Vectress

Used the Island of Blood mage with a dark eldar upper body. The sceptre is an elongated impaler using the raider pole. The orbs are from the fantasy battle wizard. A little more work to do to blend the torso in but basically done.

A list of possibilities to get as many characters/conversions on the field at the same time -

1,750

Vectress [1]
Personal venom - Repaint my competition entry from a while back
Haemo w/ WWP - Rakatherine model (next on the list, I've got all the bits together) [2]
Haemo w/ WWP - Decapitator model (4 arms is similar to haemonculi) [3]
2 squads of wracks. I'm, thinking of combining wych/hellion upper bodies w/ forest goblin spider bodies to make some different looking wracks, but not decided yet.
Raider - My raider with the grotesque gunner repainted & wrack riders replaced.
Raider - Raider with a talos welded into it as the pilot/gunner
Beastmasters - The duchess and Sathonyx fit in here. [4&5]
Also some scourges as beastmasters for razorwings.
Beasts - lobotomised tyranids - Genestealer size for khymarae, gargoyles for razors, plastic lictor conversion for clawed fiend.
Wyches w/ Hekatrix (AKA Lelith who I'm going to model as using two whips for something different) [6]
Raider - with Malys magnetized in as the pilot [7]
Void raven - New conversion combining the razorwing and the venom kit as the forward cockpit
Ravager - Gunboat style, with all three lances lined up (might be able to fit drazhar in here as pilot?[8])
Talos - Female dark avatar using the wraithlord + Green Stuff + Cronos parts for scary hair (think kerrigan from starcraft)

See I think it will depend on how its painted, if done right it will give her a slightly wide eyed psychotic look with hints of possession which is the whole point of malys.

EDIT: oh theres another page....not a boad paint job, I'd give her eyes a slight wash to make them darker.

Your Vectress looks really nice.
The pose looks menacing and I like the arm-thing she floats on.

I think the Heamoculus has to much stuff as it is now.
The whole model looks clustered and it's hard to see any details because there are just to many of them.
I'd try removing about half of the extra arms and having some focal point in the model, not just heaps of conversions.

You may be right, I've dropped a couple of arms and am going to paint some a different colour to separate them out more. It's next on my painting list.

Thanks all for your comments.

5. Lelith

There is already a pretty great lelith figure out there so I didn't want to just copy that. I've given her two whips so that I can use her as an agoniser toting hekatrix in games, but they can also represent her shardnet. The leaping pose is from the new scourge legs, as is the second plait and the long whip, the rest comes from the wych kit including the hilt knives on each weapon.

On a roll this evening, sathonyx is almost done too.

6. Baroness Sathonyx

I've reused the extended skyboard from version 1 (should look better when re-painted) and gone for a more dynamic crouching pose, I used a scourge head (ordered another one online) and the HE mage cloak.

http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/photopost/data/572/DSC02453.JPG

Going to use her as a beastmaster when I can't fit her into the HQ slot.

I want to use the new DE sorceress for my next one (decapitator) so there'll be a gap while I catch up with my painting.

5. Lelith

AWESOME!

This illustrates precisely what I'd said about the stand alone Succubus figure about a month ago. With a little effort, and some existing spare parts, you can easily make a Succubus that is better than the stand alone figure, and at almost a tenth of the cost.

Excellent work, keep it up.

Was flipping through the codex and decided to see if I could replicate the pose in the official artwork.

8. Decapitator

Fairly simple conversion of the new DE sorceress. Added a huge blade from the Talos kit and an extra set of arms to hold it.

The pile of skulls is from the codex picture. The new DE kits provide quite a variety of skulls to choose from.

http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/photopost/data/572/decapitator.jpg

I'll probably use her as a haemonculus in games as the decapitator is not a great HQ choice.

Looks good, agree about being bad as a character to actually play

I was looking at using the dark elf sorceress as a Lady Malys base. What the model like? How many pieces does it come in?

I was looking at using the dark elf sorceress as a Lady Malys base. What the model like? How many pieces does it come in?

It comes in the following pieces:

1. Torso, outstretched arm, neck and central hair piece
2. Left hair
3. Right hair
4. Face
5. Legs
6. Staff
7. textured square base

Model goes together very easily. It's too late for me now, but I could have left off the left and right hair pieces to be painted separately to give a different central colour. The hair is definitely the best part.

Main problem for conversions is that the model isn't easy to repose, as the shoulders are all integrated and the hair has a lot of volume so it could be challenging to fit a new torso. The model's also a fair amount thinner than 40K dark eldar, so you can't easily just swap out the legs. I tried this, but it looked out of proportion.
