I am starting this thread for members to post images or links to non GW models they plan to use or have used for games of 40k.
It would be awesome if you just post the link or image and the name of the unit you replace. Take into consideration any modifications using your bitz from other models to further the 40k look of the model.
I'm curious to see variations of is DE Clawed Fiends, Razorwing Flocks, and Khymerae substitutions.

How will that do you?

Oh, and if you can find the Doom boardgame, the Pinkys make excellent Khymerae:

Thanks! Some of those look really nice, I tried to order from wargames factory once before but the models never arrived.

A cheap "drop pod" would be amazing, I could make the army entirely deployed by drop pods finally.

That's a shame. As I'm in the UK, I've never used them. Use eBay instead; they're all over it. :)

Oh, and possible replacement Clawed Fiend/Grotesque:
(It's Bandaged Head): http://www.fouraminiatures.com/page4.htm

There's also a bunch of lovely models at Hasslefree, but the site's down ATM as they're moving workshop location.

I use a lot of stuff from Reaper to add variety, for WFB anyway. Being predominately Eldar in 40k I really only have Chapterhouse Studios for non GW bits.

For WFB though you have Reaper, Avatars of War, Trollforged, Raging Heroes etc.

I would love to get more Reaper miniatures, but they're abominably hard to come by in the UK (well, at least where I live! :)) and I haven't found a reliable online UK seller yet :(

I took DE warrior bits (Heads and weapons mostly) and added them to some old guardians to make more warriors for my DE army.
Vehicles are the most expensive thing for me to add to an army, I would love to make a DE army with all the units mounted in Raiders. But the tanks you showed me are perfect for a space marine or IG army, this one looks like it would fit in well for a Rhino

For me it's fun to have a bunch of codeci to make use a different army every week, so the more expensive the models I use the less I can mess around.

Miniature Scenery "Troop Lander" as drop pods.
Availably in singles or three-packs. CNC routed mdf sheets.

Old Crow for vehicles for guard or marines.
The Sabre tank is a cool looking model, and well made, and all of the Old crow resin vehicles are non-flashy resin with almost all of the prep work done for you. No gates and vents to worry about.
