We may be seeing a 25th Anniversary edition of Blood Bowl in a Space Hulkesque release later this year.

It may also be Warhammer Quest.

BloodBowl? Sweet!

And my friend who has just spent £100 quid getting a complete copy of Quest will be delighted if they re-release that...:D

Can I ask where this info came from and how solid it is?

Blood Bowl is probably my favourite all time again if I'm honest.
Which it is odd I guess that I hope it is not Blood Bowl but something different. I've got each version of Blood Bowl released. I've got so many teams it's ridiculous and I've got everything I need to play. I do not need a new one.
But I never got Warhammer Quest before. My mate Paul did so I just played his. It was brilliant. I'd buy it now off ebay but I can't bring myself to spend over £100 on it.
So out of the 2, I'd hope for Warhammer Quest.

New Models? The blood bowl minis are OLD. Mind you the new necromunda minis aren't that great. (well the Goliath ones were nice, but the orlocks and enforcers were mixed at Best)

New Models? The blood bowl minis are OLD.

They released a new human team not that long ago. They aren't bad minis. The new Griff and zug figures are good. Also Elves as well as a few others got new minis not that long ago..
But my 2nd edition Skaven team is awesome! :D They are some of the nicest models I've got. The pointing thrower is brilliant! The second edition zombies and skeletons, brilliant. The old Dwarves, brilliant. I could go on as most of them are brilliant.
There are also some other company's doing new minis. I just bought 2 werewolves and 2 wights from willy miniatures. They have just turned up and they are really good models. One of the werewolves is outstanding.

I've still go all my necromunda stuff too so I'm not that bothered about that either.

Of course I'll always take new models if they are being offered, but I don't think I need them as much as I need a new game.

Whoop!

I keep coming back to Blood Bowl. It is just too good of a game!

I liked willy miniatures, those figs would be great for my Dark Carnival!

Should gw make mordheim terrain, awesome! I remember all my paper buildings dying after one rainstorm of a 2 liter of dp. Summer 2012 gw needs to do mordheim all up right and fancy. 4x4 board you say? Sounds like an awesome excuse for some killer realm of battle add on sections!

Harry and Ghost21, both reliable rumourmongers, have commented on it. Harry was speculating based on what he has heard (I think) bust Ghost21 knows things. Plus I've heard whispers from another source with some connection to GW (he won't tell me specifically which is fair enough) but he has proven to be quite accurate too.

Personally I'm hoping for Warhammer Quest as well, or Mordheim. But with the 25th anniversary of Blood Bowl it seems like an opportune time to put out a new edition.

Games Workshop, If warhammer quest comes back out, all is forgiven. When I got into the hobby in the mid-nineties I missed my opportunity by playing too much necromunda.
Got my birthday money one year and eagerly bounced into the store, only too find they were out, the red-shirt called the h.q. and they'd stopped making it and had none left!

(insert picture of a kitten in the rain)

Since then I've been hoping for a re-release, fingers crossed.

Promising sources then. I'm not sure they would do Mordheim or Necromunda as there would be more too them (scenery/numerous gangs/more detailed rules). Quest or Bloodbowl could be done all in one self contained box, effectivley a boardgame like Space Hulk. That's not to say I don't hope and pray they update both Mordheim and Necromunda, but I'd hedge my bets on Quest or Bloodbowl. Especially given how well Space Hulk sold, that proved to GW there was a market for things like this.

I heard some where, can't remember where, that the Blood Bowl living rule book guys had disbanded and were not actively updating the LRB. Maybe this is why. Because they are busy making a new one.
If so i am actually a bit scared.
I love blood Bowl exactly as it is. If they do not update it and just release it with the rules from the last LRB then why bother, other than new models. Which I'd gladly buy but am not that bothered about.
If they release it with new rules.......

Greedo didn't shoot first. thats all I'm saying

Well they didn't screw up the Space Hulk rules so I doubt they will screw up the Blood Bowl rules. But I would imagine the re-released rules would be the last official set, not including the changes from the LRB. Could be wrong though.

The thing which goes against Blood Bowl, in my opinion, is that they can only really put two teams in a boxed set. I could see them maybe stretching to four given how many models they can put on a plastic sprue these days, but even so they would have to release more team boxes. Whereas Warhammer Quest could be completely self contained, heroes, monsters, rules for other monsters using models from the rest of the GW range and your done.

Well they didn't screw up the Space Hulk rules so I doubt they will screw up the Blood Bowl rules.

I don't think they'll mess it up necessarily but I have two points.

1. I am being a bit precious about my beloved game and I don't like people fiddling with it. Don't go messing with a legend. If it ain't broke don't fix it. (George, I'm talking to you)

2. I do not want to have a situation that I have had before were a game exists with two different sets of rules. It ruined my Heroclix club completely. At the minute I only get to play with a couple of guys so we use the rules we want. But I really do intend to join a club ( job dependent ) and play with more people. I would like to use the rules I think are best, whichever they are. Others might not.

I think I'm getting a it worked up over this for nothing. Sorry. We do not know enough yet, but thats what the internet is all about. Knee jerk reactions with everyone thinking they know best. Which I do ;)

many many many years ago I had the original edition of blood bowl, when it still had a board and used card board cutouts for the players on each team.

ah memories.

(I think i had the fatties and halfling expansion teams from white dwarf too, I wonder where all my old gaming stuff went?)

couldn't agree more, I wanted to buy one so that I could encourage my son into role playing. my ex wfe more than me played warhammer, I was more of an RPG guy but this combined both. By the time he was really old enough they stopped making them.

Hm, intriguing. Mordheim? Warhammer Siege?

Wildeybeast

Intriguing indeed. Mordheim updated to bring it in line with the present fantasy rules (not that there is anything wrong with the rules as they stand)? Finecast would make converting your warbands weapons a whole lot easier. Or something really leftfield like Gothic or Gorkamorka? Both would lend themselves to the 'self contained' style of Spacehulk

The funny thing is, whatever they release I'm definitely buying it. Probably two.

Ghost21 says it isn't WHQ as well, implies it isn't Mordheim but does say it is Fantasy. I heard talk of Amazons, I figured it might be a Blood Bowl team of 'em, perhaps it is the new army afterall? (I don't really think it is a new army)

Exciting times.

How did this start? Did someone hear about another limited release? Did some here about a major new release? etc.
Where is this coming from?

eldargal
05-29-2011, 06:02 AM
There have been rumours of another limited release since Space Hulk, there has been growing chatter about Blood Bowl since it has been mentione on the GW website a few times recently. Which is significant in a sense, more mentions in a few months than in the previous decade or so. It may also have been mentioned in Standard Bearer. Then there was this on Warseer:

"Well it's not a secret any more.

There are one or two cool things coming for fantasy in there somewhere before Ogres as well."

Is this a hint at what's coming in September?
Well it may be nothing .... but Jervis wrote the first edition of BloodBowl in 1986 ....

Do the maths

I was just bouncing of other people with my comments.

Some one said there is a super secret release ....

I know BloodBowl is in the mixer somewhere ... has been for a long time (Look back at the Watchman!) Given I knew it was 25 years it made some kind of sense that this might be a good year to release Bloodbowl. I heard a few years ago that Jervis was keen to do some sort of anniversary edition.

But I have also heard a lot of hollow talk about Quest and .....

Believe it or not ....

Man-O-War.:shifty:

But given the length of time it took SpaceHulk to appear from when I first heard about it ... I doesn't mean I am expecting these any time soon.

Talking of SpaceHulk I also heard about an expansion to that.

But I know nothing for certain beyond there is a super secret something.

For all I know it could be the chicken dragon redux. :D

EDIT: If you check out the 40K thread again someone has put forward a Chicken Dragon sized addition to 40K as a candidate for this release.

ghost21 said there would be a limited release, and that it was a Fantasy release. I missed the part where ghost and Harry said it wasn't Blood Bowl, sorry about that.

I love all this rumour stuff :) I like being excited about something for months rather than weeks. even if I don't know what it is
I just want to buy new stuff!
