Painting the Fallen

I've put some time into getting my fallen conversions painted, so far I'm really happy with the progress.

Am I seeing that you painted them green? They are supposed to be black fluff wise because they left during the Heresy when the Dark Angels were black and the Fallen didn't change colors with the Loyalists.

The only green on them is in the heraldry on their right shoulder, which is correct for the pre-heresy Dark Angels according to some fluff and art, overall the models are black (actually very dark grey).

something I have been interested in myself for quite some time. Are you going to do a full army for gaming purposes or just this squad as a show piece ?

If gaming is on the cards, what codex are you planning to use.

Absolutely a full army, I just changed my army list though, so I have a bunch of new stuff that needs to get painted. I'm scratch building a 2nd edition style predator destructor turret for the army right now, there will be more of it on my blog when it's finished.

i thought the fallen change their paint scheme as in the book Angels of darkness, where cypher and a couple of others are indecipherable to normal humans but regarded as normal dark angels??

Thank you very much! Next up on the block are 3 predator destructors. I'm scratch building the turret right now, but I'll give you a sneak peek:

Ignore the sponsons, I'll be using russ sponsons on the final product, I just put it on another predator body for scale.

I never read the book, only the fluff that I found in the codecies, also, I do like to take some artistic license when it comes to painting my miniatures to make them more dynamic, hence, brown instead of white robes, rusted equipment, heraldry, etc. In all, I kept them with the pre-heresy paint scheme, but with friar's robes instead, white robes look too pure, while friar's robes look more impoverished, or dirty.

Surely it depends on the inspiration of the modeller in question? and anyway isn't there a picture of the fallen in the chaos codex in amongst the legion colours etc theyre dark green with black robes...but yes fluff wise i thought they were still black but on a presentation front, im a dark green fallen man! great works so far would love to see more!!!!
