Well I took a trip out to my local hobby store and decided I would pick out somthing to paint just for fun. I decided on a box of empire state troops, and from that I give you my first try at nmm.

a good start, however it still looks a little like grey rather than silver, blending the grey tones to white on the edges of the blade would work nicely as well as a little more definition..

p.s. on my blog ( below) there is a tutorial for painting powerblades, if you swap the blue for grey you have a simple grey sword tutorial!'

p.p.s i really should stop this shameless self promotion :P

I revisited my sword and not theres abit more contrast. sadly I had to use a diffrent camera and the pics are not showing what the sword looks like IRL. But anywho, here it is.

the two white spots on the left hand side have been taken care of since this pic so no worries about that.
I also have yet to add a wash to bring it all together so theres that too.

any comments and advice is welcome

very nice! you are getting there! ( just be carful with washes and NMM, a little for the shadows is good but on the whole thing it can kill the effect )

I am going to concentrate the wash around the areas where one color blends to another so that that looks smooother without dimming the white down
