Hi Everyone,
I was hoping you could help me out. I recently created a Warhammer Dice app for Android phones and while I've had a couple of hundred downloads I haven't had much in the way of feedback. When you've created something it can be hard to view it objectively so I was hoping the community here could give me a hand by giving the app a whirl (it's free) and letting me know anything I could do to improve it. All feedback is very much appreciated.
You can get it by searching for WarHammer Dice Lite on the Android marketplace or going to this link https://market.android.com/details?id=com.roardog.WarhammerDiceLite
he apps features are:
Lite:
-25 dice
- 2 dice colours (Red & White)
-Touch to select failed dice
-Failed dice auto-eliminated on next roll
-Quick-roll of 1, 2, or 3 dice
-Scatter Dice
-Mute/Unmute
Pro:
-Roll up to 35 dice (10 more than Lite)
- 4 die colours (Red, White, Blue & Green)
-Quick select/removal of failed dice
-Re-roll failed dice only
-Leadership Test quick roll
-Shake to roll
-Control of sound volume
-Dice statistics
Thanks,
D2

Downloaded it and tried it, useful little app, I didn't test it extensively but it seemed that the scatter was limited to 8 directional results? This is far less than a true scatter dice and therefore would definitely need reworking into a true 360 degree directional result.
Other useful options would be the ability to change the colour of a few of the dice in the menu perhaps (first 2 green etc) since often people wish to roll for other weapons in the same squad at the same time to save time :)
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback.
The aim is to get to 360 degrees but I can't do that with static images, I'll need to do it as a 2D graphic which I'm still currently in the process of learning. It will definitely be a future update though.
You can change the colour of any die in the app by doing a long press on it. You can swap the die colour between red and white. Do you think it needs more colour options?

I have yet to use it, but I'd include at least 4 colours for dice for ease of speed rolling (ie "Red=Flamer, Blue=Plasma, White=Bolter, Green=Bolt Pistol").

are there any plans for this app on palm ox 4.x?
I've made dice apps myself (on the PC thou...), so I guess having such an app on the smartphones of today is a good idea... but I'll pass.
There's something about shaking the bones that raises the excitement level in a game.
I have a mostly finished WP7 one kicking around designed mostly around 40k. I made it so it was very easy to do string of rolls, and up to 1000 D100's. I'll post up some screenshots, might have some useful stuff for your own one :)

That is definitely something I will look at. The hard part will be including it in such a way that the UI does not become cluttered by more buttons. Maybe as an additional menu item that opens a dialog box...

Unfortunately no, not at this stage as I don't know anything about writing for palm.

I am thinking about porting my app across to WP7 as I already know C# so it shouldn't be too hard. It would be great if you could post some screen shots from your app.
I'm pretty busy this week so not much time to work on the app but will have a crack on the weekend at adding extra dice colours.

Thought I'd give you a bit of an update on the app...
Following feedback I have given the scatter die true 360 degree rotation. So it can now point randomly in any direction.
I am also working on adding two new dice colours to the Pro version, for a total of 4, as suggested by faolan.
If any more of you have tried it out and have some feedback I'd still love to hear it.
Remember you can find it on the marketplace. (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.roardog.WarhammerDiceLite)
can't seem to install on my galaxy prob my noobness lol

Probably my last update to the app for the foreseeable future, unless I get any more good suggestions!
- Added 2 extra dice colours to the Pro version for a total of 4 (Red, White, Blue & Green)
- Added true 360 degree rotation to the scatter die for both the Pro and Lite versions
- Added Reset Dice option to menu
As always, feedback is welcome.

Hi Everyone!
Thought I would let you know that WarHammer Dice Lite has over 1000 downloads!
Also, the paid version WarHammer Dice Pro has had over 50 downloads!
Thanks to everyone here who gave me feedback on the app, I really appreciate it. Of course, I'm always looking for ways to improve the app so if you have any suggestions/thoughts/comments I'd love to hear them.
Cheers,
D2

I don't have anything that I can use aps so I can't be helpfull.
But my question is, why bother with Dice Apps? Isn't part of the game to roll actuall dice? If we are going to go Digital we might as well play Dawn of War or 40K Vassal then.
Too me Dice Apps seem stupid, just like how playing Monopoly with the Electonic bank instead of actual money.

That's your opinion mate and you're welcome to it but many others disagree, myself included.
I created this app originally because I was always leaving my dice at home or couldn't find my scatter die, plus finding enough dice and trying trying to roll them for a full squad of my khornate bezerkers on the charge was a pain. So I created this this app and offered it to others in the hope that they may find it useful as well.

That's a good reason. :) I guess I am old school and don't like using anything digital to play non electronic games. :p
I created mine because there where no good ones for WP7, and I play a lot of apoc which sometimes involves rolling 150+ dice per side in combat.
