I think this is it.

2,000 pt Grey Knights
HQ
220 Grandmaster, Psycannon
Troops
450 10x Terminators, 2x Psycannon
270 10x GKSS, 2x Psycannon, DH, Rhino

GM can give 1d3 units: Scout, Make the dreads scoring units, or reroll 1's to wound.
I can keep them together and Deep Strike the GM and the Termies. 5 scoring units!
Or split up into combat squads.10 scoring units!
Dreads just shoot and kill.:eek:

If your using a Grandmaster you could use some non-troops such as purifiers (for extra combat potential) or purgation squads (for more shootyness). But if your just trying to get bodies on the table it looks fine.

I like purifiers alot, but the shooting awesomeness for the points of the GKSS is the goal in this list. Plus I like the other GM abilities other than just adding scoring units: Scout, or rerolling all 1 to wound on shooting and CC. If I roll a 3 having 10 termies and 20 GKSS that are rerolling 1's to wound is brutal.

That looks like a really strong list. GK strength definitely lies in bringing lots of troops with psycannons.

Also, while GMs can use grand strategy to make non-troops score, this should really be considered a last-ditch use this ability, for armies with too few troops that end up in objective missions. Gearing an army towards using it is an error.

Scout is going to be what you want to use almost every time. Setting up strong first turn shots with those Psycannons (or charges out of those Rhinos, which you might get occasionally) is routinely going to be the best value you'll get out of Grand Strategy.


Anyway, I wouldn't change it. I think that's about as good as a grey knight list can get.

Looks pretty solid to me. The only thing I'd change is to replace the Psycannon on the GM with Rad, Psy and Blind Grenades. 10 Terminators and a GM with all those grenades are virtually impossible to beat in close combat. Some armies, like 'nidz, just can't deal with them effectively. Well worth the loss of a single psycannon in my opinion.

Why bother with Rhinos? Scrap em all, Deep strike em all. Use the spare 160pts to make a squad interceptors, or to make another dreadknight....

Rhinos are great. Mobile cover that can contest objectives, block LOS, protect and move your units very quickly etc are very much worth it, even if you deepstrike all your dudes (which can be a valid approach).

In particular, if your Dreads are the only vehicles on the board they will not last more than a turn. You need Rhinos to give them cover and draw some fire.

After playing a few times I may swap the GM for a Captain and use the points to buy Rad and Psy grenades.

Really...how can you not like 40 point GK Rhinos. Fortitude, self repair, tactical mobility, and protection for the low model count of GK's:cool:.

After your sage advice I swaped the GM for a Librarian. And even though I miss the rad and psych grenades and the 4 shot psycannon that hits on a 2+ but the psychic powers are amazing for winning missions and games. I was apprehensive but I took your advice and bought "the 5" psychic powers and now I am a believer....all hail Dark Link....Thanks

135 PsyRifle DreadnoughtI've been putting together a list that is almost identical, just with 5 fewer terminators and giving psybolt ammo to all the strike squads. The points difference was also enough to include a dreadknight. I'm not really sure which way will work out better over all; I can see strengths to either implementation.

If you can squeeze out some points (maybe drop one or two of the librarian's powers), you should strongly consider getting a servo skull or two on the table, courtesy of the librarian. You want to start the shooting at the 24" line and close slowly from there, and denying your opponent the ability to scout/infiltrate up to your doorstep (especially if they're going first) is worth 5/10 points.
