Okay this thread is basically me asking one question.
Has it been officially confirmed that Matt Ward is writing the new necron dex?
I know everyone is saying it but I personally haven't seen a post confirming it( or if I have I forgot about it :p)
Just seems a bit odd to me that Ward would be writing 2 40k dex's in a row. If anything I would expect Robbin Cruddace to be writing it. He is the Tomb King author after all.
So is everyone firm in the belief that Ward is the new author, or am I just being optimistic?

I think it's pretty much confirmed that it's Matt Ward.
Also, the codex would have been finished months ago, and Grey Knights months before that. He's almost defintly working on something that hasn't even been hinted at yet now.

*sigh* Well a man can dream...
At least he's not writing the fluff:)

I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that the fluff from all the codexes comes from a few writers, with the main codex writer doing most of rules. And Matt Ward easily does the best rules.

Its your personal opinion, my is opposite.

Just means that there is a FAQ writer out there who will never be without work.

I'm personally very happy with my Matt Ward codex. People who "hate" him take their gaming way too seriously and need to put their life's priorities in perspective.

I kinda agree. I mean Cruddace writes some pretty balanced rules but I've noticed a pattern of, 'Hmm I know, lets take a classic heavy support choice and put it into squadrons of 3!!!'(btw, 160 points base for a fex, only apoc. size could allow squadrons!)
If he WAS the codex author, I could imagine there being an option for 3 monoliths:p

Cruddance has trouble being consistantly balanced. He goes and makes IG, then comes out with 'nidz. Phil Kelly can't hold back. He just has to give his armies every cool toy and unit and heaven forbid his armies have any weaknesses to balanced out all the good stuff.
All three do a good job, more or less. But Ward is the best at producing competitive but balanced rules. People who don't like Ward take their fluff to seriously.

Your opinion sucks:p

I agree with DarkLink, I like Matt Ward's codexes and tbh apart from a couple of unforgivable mistakes (like BA teaming up with necrons) I really don't think his fluff is all that bad. And this is coming from a person who prefers fluff over competitiveness.

It hasn't been 'officially confirmed' that a Necron codex is even being written, never mind who by. It just depends on how much stock you put in the internet rumour mill. Some of the things on here turn out to be quite accurate, some is just fan boys dreams. I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

This is only bed based on the old (horrible) fluff for necrons.
