Howdy.

I do not know of any DE painters such as the one for Space marines.

However I have 2 different paint schemes I am considering. I would appreciate your thoughts.
The first is completely different from the standard. On this one I am considering using a helmet in the same color as the armor, or lighter so it has more pop on the table top.

The second is fairly typical dark and mean looking, but I think it also is eye catching.

I'd say the the first one is the best...but lose the pink on the helmet

NAd remember how these will relate to toher things in the army...painting raiders big flat hulls

I do like the first one, but I think it's a bit too 'Craftworld-y'. That and the pinky-purple does clash a bit too much with the yellow, IMO, so you might be better off loosing that. Maybe go for pattens/detail like that in bone?

I think the second is a better scheme overall, but makign a few tweaks to the first would make it the better of the two.

Thanks.

I guess one of the biggest problems I have is trying to figure out which one will pop more on the table and get the judges attention.

That and I tend to think everyone else's dark Eldar are better than mine.

I plan to lose the dark helmets on the 1st one and have more of tan bone colored helmet so it is a bit more eye catching.

My inspiration for the brown guys is a common wasp and the movie Dune. I really want something utterly alien and sinister at the same time. While dark does not always mean sinister, it does help make them look evil. However, dark Dark Eldar are fairly common and it is almost like marines " Another Black marine army" which is something I want to avoid.
So I did the black one with more traditional highlights and avoided the edge lining commonly used for DE.

I dunno, I may just have to paint up 2 DE armies and then keep the one I like best and then sell the other.

I like the first one.

I prefer the second. It's more Dark Eldar to me. The first looks like a Guardian going clubbing IMO.

I like both, but I think the 2nd one does look more like a DE color. Like a few others have said the first one looks good but looks like a craftworld eldar.
But very good painting on both. I like your idea of painting two armies and keeping the one you like and selling the other.

So now that I have narrowed down my color scheme and army list I am going to begin to document the Black Halo Kabal.

My Dark Eldar project log. My intent was to build a dark eldar army that was different from the typical black with extreme highlghts.
Inspired by the movie 'dune" and annoyed by local wasps, I have build a mix scheme desert theme color scheme. Ignore the guy with the blue helmet, that was a test model to see how it looked.

Forgive the poor picture quality, most were taken with a cell phone camera.

Now I know you are wondering where is the black for the Halo. Those will appear on the vehicles once all the desert colors are done and as details on the rest of the infantry, so for now they are not shown.

Sorry about the bad pic. I used my cell phone camera and it is kinda crappy.

And a little more. :)

Up for review right now are a couple more warriors. I did not get the exposure right on these and the pictures came out kinda bad. Sorry about that but I was in a rush.

Anyhoo, a squad of warriors. I still need to do all the gems on these, like the shredder has and then they will be waiting on the base to be finished.

I don't know what they were thinking when they designed those heads?

I know what's a practical combat style, a big floppy fringe that obscures our vision... diamond! ;)

Looks great, the shading is really working for you, especially on those warrior helmets. Presumably the bases are going to get some more attention at some point?

Thank you very much!

The bases will be finished. Right now I am focused on getting the models done in time for WGC. That and I have not figured out exactly what color I want for the bases so I am experimenting with a few different things.

It is a nice colour scheme. But I actualy prefer it with the Blue helmet on the last page. Sorry.

You have alot of raiders and venoms man. Looks liek a large army!

Perhaps you could paint the Incubi with Blue helmets instead?

Thanks to everyone for viewing and commenting on this little project of mine. I am really enjoying painting up these models and it keeps me motivated to keep going and add to it, and build and add to it and build and so on. If I am lucky I will be able to stop at 4000 points.

Anyhoo my progress so far is assembling and working on a couple units of scourges and more work on my vehicles.

I took my airbrush ( a sotar 20/20) and added a final highlight color, a very bright pale yellow to all my vehicles, or at least the assembled ones.

I took the sails and got those primed in white ready for paint this weekend,

here is what I have on my table currently showing some of the progress. I am quite pleased with the final highlight on the ravagers. Sorry, I did'nt get any pics of the venoms, but it really gives it some standout color on the edges and emphaiszes the overall brightness and warmth of the army.

Dundundunnnn... *Wih! Wih! Wih!*

Nice progress mate, the shading looks awesome on the vehicles. I think a nice colour to complement it would be a dark bronze. :)
