View Full Version : Mechanised Monolith?

I have heard rumour via the grapevine (and this is just word of mouth, I haven't seen anything to prove this) that a prototype MECHANISED Necron Monolith has been tested. Apparently, units of Necrons (of how many miniatures I don't know) are placed into the Monolith, the capstone/top is depressed and clockwork/mechanisms inside select and deploy a random unit - it could be Warriors/Immortals etc.
Does anyone a) know if this has been mentioned before? or b) is credible in any way?

I Would call completly rubbish.
Basically your saying your put models into something, push a button and it randomly "dumps" models out.
No one would use it, you are just asking to get models broken and chipped

I have to agree with the others. I've never heard that rumor before and it sounds false.

OP doesn't say it's going to happen, just that it's being/has been tested.
Hopefully it's been tested and filed under B for "Bat**** Insane".

Even if it did exist, it would have to be very large to actually fit a unit inside which would make it extremely expensive. Also, I can't see how it would be something you could assemble yourself which cuts out one of GW's core hobby strands for the sake of a novelty item. And then there are the already mentioned issues with having a machine spitting out your lovingly painted novels. Using the special green rods for the gauss weapons was out of the box for GW, I can't see them doing anything this wacky/pointless.

Maybe it was just intended to be a promo tool.

It was an April fools prank by the fellas on the hogs of war website. If you search the website they have a video of it too. I think it was called the megalith. It was clearly an april fools as they were struggling not to pi*s themselves laughing during the vid.
