Hello,

I have three friends who play warhammer 40k too. Therefore we often play 2vs2 matches. Often we come across situations which are difficult. Examples are (1) more than 2 drop pods in turn one due to two marine armies within one 'army' and (2) transporting troops in another man's transport (Marines in Raider) and (3) shared FOC or every army one FOC...

My question is: Are there players who often play 2vs2 matches and what are your house rules? Are there any links or 'semi-official' rulesets for warhammer 40k with more than two players?

Thank you in advance!

(This thread is also active in the 'General' forum, but I think this topic suits this section better)

There aren't any official GW resources for team 40k (which is a shame), but there are a lot of major tournaments that run 2v2 events. There are a few things that are pretty standard:

1. No sharing transports, unless both team members are using the same codex. ICs cannot join squads from a different codex, either.
2. If each player is fielding a force of ~1000 points (or 2k per team), you should share a FOC with your teammate. For bigger games, each player should get their own FOC.
3. Minimum 1 HQ and 1 Troop per player for smaller games, 1 HQ 2 Troops for larger games.
4. You can't run two copies of a Unique character on the same team.
5. Your team is considered to be two different armies who are allied for this fight. So, rules that affect an army (like Chapter Tactics) only affect one player's forces. But rules that affect "friendly units" will affect your teammate. If each player is running one drop pod, they both come down on turn 1.
