View Full Version : 6500 Points of Fully-Painted Eldar

This weekend I finally finished off painting my Eldar army. While the Craftworld is obviously Alaitoc, I've built it up in a more balanced manner so I can take advantage of more than just Rangers/Pathfinders...

The armor was achieved by three stages of stippling from Regal Blue up to a 50/50 Ultramarine/Ice Blue with a Citadel Tank Brush. Time-saving warning! I primed the bottom section and top section of all the grav tanks separately (white on bottom, black on top), then painted them separately, and glued them together at the end. Made things go markedly faster and with much less cleanup.

Great paint job.
The color scheme does leave a bit to be desired on the wraithlords and jetbikes though. They seem a bit plain now.

very nice. I like the face on the avatar.. A couple of suggestions though? maybe make the snow on the avatars base look like its melting (squirt super glue on plastic wrap and brake off chunks after it dries) to show how hot he is, and perhaps a coat of pledge future shine on the window of your vehicles to make them less flat. I really like the bases, think you pulled the effect off well!

Awesome! Yes, I like the bases as well! Great Job.

I need to paint just a little bit more so we can have a game...

Check my SM Company WIP post!

You know, I was thinking of that very thing when I was basing the Avatar. I'll have to see what I can do...

The Wraithlords (like my Huron pic) are actually a bit flushed out by the light and do look a markedly better in person. The Jetbikes I will agree with you on. I struggled to work more of the bone into their scheme but just couldn't find something that I was pleased with, so I settled.

While I don't really care for Eldar myself, those are some seriously well-painted models. Nicely done.

I am saving this thread for future reference, because you completely inspired me. Great paint jobs, consistant through out the army, and great bases. I would throw down against this army any time.

As a fellow Alaitoc Eldar player, I have to say those are some very nice models.

Looks great.

I really like the stiple effect that you've done on the larger surfaces of the vehicles/jetbikes.

That's a very nice looking army. Very crisp and I love the bases.

My only nit-pick is that there doesn't seem to be much depth in some of the colours - it may just be the pictures, but the white on the Dire Avengers and bone on the Howling Banshees could do to have a little more shading to define it further.

Other then that, great work! Well done for painting all that Eldar

Really impressive army there.

I think the purple gems compliment the blue armour perfectly. I'm loving the contrast between the blue and the bone on the larger models and I think the raised rocky bases are ace, especially with their "melting snow" appearance.

Are the bases resin or made by yourself???

Can't wait to see your Red Corsars!

You did a really good job painting all those up. I really like this army and I wish I could paint as well as you. Congrats on getting ALL of that painting done too. It must have taken a while.

That is an incredible amount of Eldar awesomeness. Shame that you're still xenos scum (joking), but kudos to you for completing this amazing army.

<though an army is never really done ;) )

Out of curiosity, how did you do your snow? I have trouble getting it to look that good. Thanks!

I did the bases myself. It's cork that's been stacked, primed black, then drybrushed with dark and light grey. Then I applied clump foliage. Finally I added a 50/50 Woodland Scenics Snow/White Glue mixture for the snow effect. It's pretty easy all told and looks pretty good methinks; it just takes a little extra time.

Thanks for the nice words, gang. The Red Corsairs are on the way.

Wow. Those are amazing! I wish I could paint that well. Also, I second the suggestion to "melt" the avatar's base.

I'm always impressed when I see an army of that size painted to a high standard and this time is no different! and with stellar bases to boot! Kudos to you! I hope my 2000 points of Red Corsairs turn out half as good

I purchased the army when 5th ed. came out and got about 2000 points painted within about 3 weeks. The rest has been painted on-and-off ever since. So, roughly about a year.
