id go for smoother blending/highlights on the black and a few washes on the red/face/metals couldnt hurt! a wee bit more definition on the red would be nice as well as well as touching up the gems!
how to paint gems!
1) coat of black
2) dark red over most of the gem (leaving a patch of black
3) red over most of the dark red (leaving some dark red
4) light red over the red (again leaving some more red)
5) small whit dot over the black area!
6) ???
7) profit!

For painting black on Power Armor, I do this.
Undercoat with Chaos Black primer spray.
2:1 ratio of Chaos Black to Hawk Turquoise over entire area to be black.
Watered down wash of Badab Black
Apply 1:1 Chaos Black/Hawk Turquoise
Highlight with 1:1:1 Chaos Black/Hawk Turquoise/Space Wolves Grey
Hardcoat if you want a "lacquered" effect.
