It depends on how you look at it. Orks are actually really, really good with force fields and tractor beams. They also had some pretty sweet Tellyporta technology, both on the large and small scale (Shokk Attack Gun vs. Nazdreg's Tellyporta). They aren't bad with lasers, but lasers don't interest them much, so they generally don't bother... they prefer a loud, mess gun.

Surgery and medicine is pretty barbaric, but it's because they have no real need for niceties like anesthetic or antiseptics.

Culturally, their advanced in the sense that they no longer care about things that plague "modern" races, like poverty, depression, and finding their place in the universe. However, their culture lacks things like recorded history, serious writing (they've got glyphs, but not much in the way of books), or any serious academics (since all of their specialists have their knowledge born into them).

Its a commentary on how involved I am in the 40k universe...i see the Tau and eldar as advanced and the Orks as barbaric...even though all their tech is mostly mile ahead of where we as a society are now...wierd

an advanced society does not mean they are no longer barbaric. A civilized society is not barbaric.

Orks are an advanced barbaric society, contrasting the Tau or Eldar, which are civilized advanced societies.

It looks like another form of Dawn of War II type game. It mentions there are Titans, do you actually get to fight titans against titans, or is it just the troops running around cutting shootin and smashing their way through the enemy before they themselves get smashed?

I would prefer a game more like Mechcommander/ Mechcommnder II, or some other unit/squad/platoon/company size game where you use the tanks, titans and troops all together. Imagine the old Epic Space Marine computer game, but with modern graphics.

I could relly get stuck into a game like that. Shoot em up, first player type games just bore me now, and yes, even a lot of the 3rd person type shoot em up games.
