Finally got my dirty fingers on this model. Its tabletop ready...still need to detail the face and back of the book, drill out te storm bolter, and other little touches here and their.

I like the purple. I think you'd really tie the red and blue in to the armor if you shade those colors with a little of the darker purple.

Why purple? Is it a different chapter?

I'm painting this Army as the Hawk Lords Codex Chapter. The colors being Purple and Gold...although I'm going pretty minimal on the gold, shoulder pad edges, detail bits on the armor, etc. The gold really pops from the purple base coat and IMHO less is more in this case.
My only fail is the water slide decals (a Ravenwing type bird symbol in gold rather than black) I made don't really show that well on the shoulder pads. I've been thinking of using the Salamanders symbol and calling my chapter the Fire Drakes or Imperial Dragons or some other thing like that.
My current HQ of choice has been Lysander, but I've been toying with the idea of creating a Vulkan list to start switching things up.
