Hello, im LC. Ive been playing 40k for about six years now, joined mid 4th when I was about 13 or so. I, at the time, was playing Heroclix and was interested in all of the 40k models on the shelves at the comic book store. I saw a game of Fantasy play out, and was interested. Now I only had any encounters with gaming when I visited my mother in florida during spring break or the summer, simply as where I lived in Arlington TX had no wargaming stores at all. So I had sparing time to pursue the hobby. Eventually, my cousin, step father and I tried to take up the Starship Troopers wargame but the models were awful and the rules were trife. In an attempt to find better models, my step-dad picked up some Cadians, peaking my interest even more. Once I swung by the comic shop and saw a gunline of fully painted Ultramarines holding off wave after wave of Bloodletters, I was hooked.

Even though it was the IG that enthralled me, being a kid AND being new, the local players convinced me to go Marines at first. I did for a time, playing a few games without really understanding the rules. I got around 500-750 points before I pushed for my IG army. I built up a large army, but it was still very weak. I just didnt quite grasp the rules. I played against my Step-Father's Zulu style Black Templars most of the time and almost always lost. Eventually of course I picked up some Grey Knights terminators, augmenting my IG with them. Slowly I drifted to a pure Grey Knights army, and as I was getting older and more familiar with the rules, I began to win. ALOT. I loved my knights. I loved their fluff, their unique rules, everything special about them. (now Matt Ward has screwed it all up completely, but thats another story for another time) When I returned home one summer, I was pleased to find out that the chain of Comic Stores in my area was running 40k Tournaments. I joined up and won. Alot. My army was tweaked to perfection and it couldnt lose, match after match, tourney after tourney I rarely wasnt winning.

I dont say this to brag, I say this to point out how bored I got. I played the same game every time. Same tactics, same die roles, same bs.I wanted to try something besides Imperials, so I picked up Chaos Marines. At least now I was playing a challenging and fun army, with new and awesome units, fun games all around. I grew pretty good, 16-17 years old at the time, with a great grasp on the rules. I spent the summer of age 18 with my mother again, this time in Oklahoma. I visited the game store there often and loved it, using the new IG codex with my old army. With extreme excitement I was doing well with that beloved army and kicking some tail. Eventually I came home and stopped playing again until two months ago. Now ive finished my time of being a stupid kid screwing off, and have come to join my father and step mother in Houston, who moved here about a year ago. Finally im near a GW, and have been spending time at the Tomball Crossing store for the last two months.

Regrettably, im one of those people who likes to always move forward, and have traded off all of my armies to fund my Black Templars, the 2nd Natal Crusade designed in honor of my Step-Father's old Templar. Ive been playing more then ever and developing my AWFUL painting skill. Also working on fluff some more, as I have a cast of characters nearly twenty in number now. Ive developed some great friends and am even now plotting a trip to War Games Con, my first Warhammer Event!

So thats a bit about me. I do realize you dont care but hey, its late and I felt like writing a bit. So theres my backstory. My username is the long term name I use on Spacebattles.com, and yes it came from my love of IG back then. Ill probably get into discussions and talks more often, post pictures and perhaps battle reports. Im big big big on fluff, hugely, so much so that I develop story for each game I play(if only in my mind) and I even write my character's names in my army list as well as refer to them in game. ("Marshal Durban", rather than "The Commander")

Pleased to finally be on the forum after reading bols for so many years now. I remember when it was all 40k, not even any Fantasy coverage. :P
