I think this may have something to do with the switch to resin blisters, or so I was led to believe over on Warseer. I assume they want to get rid of as much metal stock as possible, and no point producing more for miniatures which are selling out so stores can only buy what stock is left direct from GW.

I just noticed that the Aspect Warrior boxes on GWs website now contain 5 models instead of 6.

I'm hoping the Black Templars upgrade kit being discontinued is a sign that they're making room for a new Black Templar release in the next year or so.

Every year, GW takes some slower selling models and moves them from Trade Sales to Direct Sales. All this means is that they no longer stock them in their distribution warehouse, nor do they sell them to other distributors. Only customers ordering direct, and GW listed stores, and GW Independant retailers can purchase them (any non GW IRs who stock through a normal distributor and not through GW directly don't have access to them below MSRP).

That's all it means normally.

Now unless they are doing something different this year, which BS may be more up to date on than I am, then they could be OOP, but otherwise, they are just more limited now in release.

I also think this ties in with the death of metal model production at GW.

The warp spider box contains 5 models only.
4 aspect warriors and the exarch.

Hopefully they are being pulled for a remake. They are one of the few remaining infantry Eldar models that have remained unchanged since 2nd ed.

Hmm, you can add swoopy hawks to the list at least. I tried to order a box tonight from my lgs. Owner told me they (gw) are not taking re-orders as he said they are doing something with re-packaging. He could not elaborate.

In the case of the River trolls. They stayed bassicly the same/slightly less. Same with nid raveners

Plastic did go cheaper than metal, people forget because we get new and improved plastic kits and the price goes up. If I want a squad of metal Aspect Warriors I have to pay £37, compared to plastic £20.50, for example.

It is probably being pulled from store shelves because it is a slow seller and as I stated earlier GW is making a lot of room on their own store shelves for a lot of new box sets that just keep coming with each new army release. Independent stores will probably be glad to have something faster moving on their own shelves too. There's still a good chance it will be available GW Direct Only.
