Right now this is still in the concept stages. I've been playing around with Google Sketchup and Pepakura, trying to see what I can do with them. So far, this is what I've come up with:

The intent is to print out the template once I've got it more or less roughed out in Pepakura, build up the template model in sheet styrene (aka plasticard), smooth out the surface with putty, and add just enough GW bits to it to justify saying it's a conversion.

Truth be told, this will probably fail miserably. Still, nothing ventured, eh?

You know the actual model for this is out in about a month or 2 right?

Sure ... to the tune of $65, no doubt.

Mostly I'm just horsing around with this, but if it gets me a workable model at no additional cost, so much the better.

That's pretty cool, but the "fork" in the front strikes me as too angular on the inside. It might just be how the program renders it, though... looks like everything is made up of straight lines right now.

That might actually be a cool place to put the Void Mine, though... pretty non-human-standard, since we seem to like our bombs under the main hull. Also, it'd make the weapon more prominent, which would make sense as the central "theme" of the Bomber.

What's the intended size because just from looking at it I get a vampire bomber vibe and that thing is huge?

I was trying to keep the poly count low, which is probably why it looks a bit blocky. It could also be a function of how Pepakura renders things - it doesn't do any smoothing at all.

For those not familiar with it, Pepakura is software that takes a 3D model and "unfolds" it into a series of shapes suitable for making papercraft models. Cosplayers make use Pepakura a lot for making costumes. The fewer polygons Pepakura has to work with, the better job it does in interpreting the model into 2D.

I took a wild guess and assumed the wingspan of the Void Raven to be 8". (EDIT: that's 20.32 cm for those from the land of fog and warm beer.)
