New GW Battle Bunker, Maryland, USA

GW has still not officially announced the location of the the new Battle Bunker in Maryland, but friends told me the location a few weeks ago and then it leaked out to some others as well. Once someone else posted it in my thread about this on Dakkadakka I decided to let fly with everything I know. Another forum member finally spotted a sign at the location posted by the shopping center management yesterday. The exact address and associated information are shown below.

Middle of May is now the projected opening date for the new Bowie Battle Bunker.

Interviews for the Battle Bunker Manager job take place during the first couple weeks of April. Several internal applicants are vying for the job, some from Maryland and some from outside the area. Local applicants are interviewed on April 8.

Here's the new Battle Bunker location information. There's plenty of food and services in the area both at the actual shopping center and at many locations extremely close by on Route 450 and Route 301. Some nearby restaurants and quick food options include Outback Steakhouse, 7-Eleven, Grace's Fortune Chinese Food (excellent food!), Sakura, Pizza Hut, Glory Days, Taco Bell, Popeye's, Giant Food.

We're simply lucky here in Maryland that the HQ was here for more than 20 years and that we already had a Bunker which they are simply replacing. Getting them to give you one in the first place is the tricky part.

i heard a rumor that they were looking into the crofton area, any validity to that Scorpion?

I'm sure they probably did look around there earlier before making a decision and in the end they did pick a location in the Crofton area, but down the street at 6820 Race Track Road in Bowie, MD. The Hilltop Plaza management already has a sign up in the window saying "coming soon, Games Workshop" and multiple people had told me Hilltop Plaza was the location at least a month ago. The info at the top of this thread is current and accurate.

I drove by the location as recently as yesterday morning. No signs of activity yet, but with a mid-May target for opening they should be starting soon.

There will be some familiar faces at the new Bunker store as some of the ex-staff from Arundel Mills GW will be working there under Duane. Tentative opening date is 2 weekends from this one.

The manager is Duane who worked at the old Baltimore Bunker for 3.5 years and more recently was managing the White Marsh store. Some staff from the Arundel Mills GW will be working there.

Opening day and hours announced formally at last. I'm already digging that 10-10 opening day. Just like old times.

Anyone know when Open gaming nights are?

Also weird request. Ive been out of the Hobby for a while and only have 2 5th Edition games under my belt. Ive been in and out of the Hobby since '97. Curious if there is anyone that would like to get a few laid back games in sometime next week, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday evenings if there is open gaming then. Im looking to try and play someone that doesnt mind a Noob to 5th Veteran stumbling their way through a game or two. The new Grey Knights have sparked my desire to get an Army done and playing again. I stopped by on opening day and liked the atmosphere so i think I might give playing in a GW setting a chance again.

I wish they'd open up one in the St.Louis area instead of opening *more* stores in Chicago (because that's totally necessary?). They took our store away so they could concentrate on Chicago until they were "done expanding in that area."
