thats the work ive done on my hive fleet so far, the lava and stone look with crystals is the idea im going for. I am really happy with how it has been turning out, though i have only gotten the one hormy close to completion. Though after tonight i should have the whole hormy brood up to the same level, ill just have to paint the talons and they'll be done. I am just starting my army though, after this set i plan to do my conversions for tfex and tervigon, as well as magnetizing my warriors.

Like the bugs so far.
Emerald I actually did a test scheme when I was trying to find a scheme I liked before I found the dark blue / brown that I posted as my army's scheme and it is very similar to the one your doing for your army :D

very nice. I'm a fan of the 'growth lines' or w/e you would call em on the Bug carapace.

Like the way Dwez and I did the shading on the carapace. I like the vertical lined shading on the tyranid carapace. Kinda lke how if you look at your finger nails you can see that there are small vertical lines.

Ghoulio: Those are some awesome models, love the harpy for the record. I am personally going with an arachnid theme on my tervigon, using scything talons as 6 legs essentially (yeah i know im two short, but there are no sockets for two more, though I might find a way to do that). I will form the thorax to be the "womb" for termagaunts, thinking of modelling the look after the arachnirock from the orks and goblins at the suggestion of a friend of mine. then build some carapace and womb chords of flesh all around it, it will rock.

It's a strictly "no guns" army, theres the odd flamer template, psychic boom and electro static shock attack, but not a single "hand-held" gun. hormagaunts (lots), rippers(aplenty) and stealers all the way for the lower monsters, zoanthropes, venomthropes, ravagers and tyranid warriors with scythes/rending claws for the middle range, hive tyrant, trygons, malanthrope and the Scythed Hierodule for the big beasties.

Actually, you are good. All Tyranids have 6 limbs, not 8. :)
Thanks for the compliments! Even though the Harpy is easily one of the most overcosted units in the book it is probably my fav model for this army. Turned out really well. It is to date my best use of greenstuff (almost the entire tail, the shoulder joints for the wings, about half of the ribcage and the entire neck). To date I have almost 4500pts fully painted to this standard. Just currently finishing off 10 Ymgarls, 20 Gargoyles and a Flying Hive Tyrant that is fully built and ready to be painted.
@TSINI: I love the pose of that second Trygon, made me wish I did something like that (still might as the Trygon kit is my fav kit to date...would give me an excuse to paint a 2nd one :D )

@ Ghoulio
Cheers mate, a deceptively easy bit of modelling for the trygon, a bit of greenstuff to fill and round off the underside, and an angled slice off at the point it dissapears underground. I'm thinking up ideas for the mawloc, I was thinking of modelling more of the creature bursting vertically from the ground, but your one shows me this might be best as you've done, keep it simple, rather than trying to model a whole new tail.
As for your models, WOW! the paintscheme is fantastic, but the bases alone make the models really stand out, all the derelict equipment and shell pocked ground, it looks awesome, just how I imagine all 40k landscapes.
