So I'm making a Deathwatch army, largely for giggles. The aim is to be as "true to the fluff" as is possible, largely using beginning Deathwatch RPG characters as the gudelines. The overall idea is to make an "Elite" SM force.

Currently, I've made two 10 man squads, with a flamer and heavy bolter. They will count as Sternguard. I'm going to make a Deathwatch Kantor so they can become scoring. I've also got one Venerable Dreadnought with multimelta and DCCW for anti-mech.

I just can't decide what to add next; it has to stick more to the fluff than anything else. My immediate thought is a five man squad of Sternguard with combi-meltas for further anti-mech, and maybe a missile launcher Devastator squad, but I'm not sure.

It's going to be 1500 pts.

What do you reckon?

How are you equipping your troops?

Also, I think you should add a squad of Terminators: maybe heavy flamer--- most aliens don't wear better than 4+ armor (cause they suck!)

At that point, a master of the forge will let you take dreads.

If this is purely for fun, why not take some Vanguard Veterans? You don't even have to do all that much equipping, just give'em jump packs and a power weapon or two.

I'm pretty sure a Death Watch strike force would include a Librarian to take on Eldar and the like.

combine the ideas from the last 2 posts if you have enough points?

jump-pack libby attached to some jump-pack vanguards (but that would mean you couldn't do heroic intervension with them due to the IC)

costs lots of points, so few models and quick to paint, and they are good fun to play...
