It's in the rule book that sniper rifles always hit on a 2+ But what happens if the ballistic skill of the firer is above five? Meaning that they would get a re-roll after an initial miss for normal shooting weapons. What would happen if a model with a sniper rifle and ballistic skill above 5 missed?
Would the re-roll also hit on a 2+?

The unit I may be referring to comes from a source that cannot be named.

I know I am jumping the gun with this as the codex hasn't been released yet.

But what would you consider the solution for my confusion?

I cannot find in the rules where it says snipers hit on a 2+ only wound on a 4+ pg 31 brb

Wait, what? Sniper Rifles in 5th Ed don't hit always on a 2+, unless I'm much mistaken. The rules for sniper rifles on page 31 of the rulebook only mentions they are Rending, Pinning, wound on 4+ by default, and count as S3 versus vehicles.

In 4th edition, sniper rifles always hit on a 2+.

In 5th edition, sniper rifles hit based on the BS of the firing model.

Arrrrrggghh!

That's another one of those '4th edition lapses' I'm guilty of. And I'm the guy who is meant to teach others how to play! This won't go down well....

You all just ruined my scouts..... Thanks a lot.

That's an accurate assumption.

hitting on a 2+ was a 4th edition rule, that has now heen superseeded, and snipers hit using their balistic skill, and then wound on a 4+, vehicles are hit with a strength 3 shot, but the rending rule given to sniper shots means that a lucky roll will give you a armour penetration of 12. You would use the Ballistic skill to hit chart on page 18 of the rule book for your sniper with BS of 6 or better.
