When I heard the GKs were getting their own codex I decided I better dig them out and get them going!

Not much to look at right now I guess but thought I would share.

To get done I have:
2 GK Land Raiders
1 Mk2 Land Raider w/ Inq doors
Inq Hector Rex
Inq Solomon Lok
40-ish PA GKs
15 GK Termies
1 GK Dread

I have one GK Dread completed that I did to test the desired colors/inks/basing and such.

I am going for a "Dirty" look, trying to represent a force that has been "In Country" (World?) for a while and shows the battering they are taking, and dishing out.

Comments and suggestions are welcome of course!

Just my opinion, but they look a bit too dirty.

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say he sprayed them with a silver spray/airbrush, did the gold work with a VMC old gold equivalent, then washed the entire thing in a gryphonne sepia wash.

I'm sorry, should I give everyone that posts a verbal BJ like you do? I give plenty of positive feedback, but if you're going to post your stuff on a public forum, expect feedback. I want constructive criticism on the stuff I post. Feel free to do so.

These models are, IMO, far too brown. As I said before.

I suggest if you're going to make sweeping generalizations like you do here, you go through the amount of content and constructive feedback I have offered and then rethink you're assessment. Quite frankly, you're wrong.

If you don't want feedback on your models, or can't handle other people's opinions, then don't post on a very public forum like this.

What is VMC?

p.s. I don't think you’re a negative person. You did say it was just your OPINION, and they do look a bit too dirty for grey knights. Maybe he should give them a few clean spots to show that its dirt and not just the original armor color.

VMC = Vallejo Model Color

That dude, like, tails me or something in every forum I post in. Drives me nuts.

Really? most negative person you say, never has anything good to say.

Sir I Disagree with your statements entirely! "my opinion of course"

The models look good, but i agree that they are to grimy for my tastes i prefer the shiny ones :)

I quite like it, but it is a little dark, perhaps a light drybrush of mithril silver to brighten it without too much re-working.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

As they are "WIP", they are far from done, yes I plan on a lot of highlighting and such to show patches and areas where the grime hasn't collected and you can see the shiny stuff coming through. These guys are only 3-4 steps in so still a ways from being ready for a dull coat and a table.

@Wittdooley: You pretty much hit it on the head with my process. Spray with silver (forget the brand), hit the gold spots with a dark bronze, primed all the tabards and skulls with a white testors primer, bleached bone on the skulls and ribbons, washed with a mix of 3-4 different inks. Almost all VMC paints.

Cool. I want to try and do that for my chaos chosen although you are going to be making them lighter in stage 4 and I'll be going darker.

Keep up the good work and keep posting pics!

I like them, I like them a lot. They have a...angelicly aged look about them. Not dirty, but more like ancient holy relics. Very fitting.

Just an update on the progress of my GK force.

Stern and some buddies, anyone else find his stock "karate chop" hand GD re'tarded?

A veritable SEA of metallics, I know it's hard to pick out much detail but there are a lot of the GD dudes.

The 2nd dread of the force, this one is actually closer to the end result, one more level of highlighting for the silver and then the rest of the details before dull coat to take the shine out.

That's a lot of GK goodness right there.
