So I painted up my first Storm Raven using some new techniques (oils, weathering powder, used my air brush for the first time) and felt like it came out okay. Still not quite sure how I feel about the sponge chipping, but overall I'm pretty happy.

Enjoy!

The Raven front on. Decided to paint the cockpit glass because I didn't want to deal with the duder inside.

Close up of the assault ramp nice and dirtied up.

And the Sides:

Nice job man, I like the look with the blue canopies. And the assault ramp looks spot on with those warning striped. As for the sponge chipping, definitely not bad but it could actually use some more of it. Try to look where the chipping might occur naturally., On the corners of doors, landing gear, perhaps there's a bit on the hull or wings where a maintenance crew might frequently walk over etc..

Seeing as you've got weathering powders, why not introduce some soft streaks behind vents & valves. I see you've applied some around the vents but make the trailing side a bit longer,s eeing as it's a speedy vehicle. ^^

So, like, going away from the vent like the exhaust is trailing the vehicle as it is moving? Makes sense, I'll have to revisit.

As for the chipping: Was my hardest dilemma. I tried to find some airplane reference pics, but alas could not find any. I like the ideas you mentioned, particularly the less obvious ones like where the maintenance crew would walk.

Thanks again for the constructive critique. Always welcomed. Gonna try a Baal Pred next..
