Troop squad? Really?

jump jets seem ok, but i think deepstriking 3 of these in to mow down some bad guys could be kinda cool.

Sold. I'll have 3 please

Just remember, even thought they're troops, they can't hold objectives. Its just good to get the warwalkers out of the heavily cluttered Heavy Support section...

BS 4 is good, and I like the model - damn you Forge World!

I am liking the greater number of FW kits priced at the £30 and less range rather than up at the £100+ mark, makes them more practical and these can be used as war walkers no problem in any games where the FW rules aren't in play.

Love it, going to buy three or six when IA11 is released. Jump jet them behind cover and watch your opponents get very angsty about what those 6 scatter lasers/whatever are going to start munching through on the next turn.

Awesome, that means I can field up to 12 walkers now....

Holy cow, did anyone else notice that the jump jets allow it to move up to 24" and assault!?!!!
Not that you'd assault anything except maybe some gretching or Tau warriors...

But still, 24" move and assault!

Umm... Why can't they?

Good question. All troops can hold objectives unless their rules specifically state otherwise.

Good question. All troops can hold objectives unless their rules specifically state otherwise.

The main rulebook says otherwise.

Question. Is it the full kit or jsut a conversion pack to change a regular war walker into one of these?

The picture seems to have different shades of resin/plastic, which i know can happen, but certain bits look like new resins pieces i.e lower legs, fin , jets and front shielding. but other pieces look like the current plastic.

Just curious as it could be expensive if you have to buy both kits or whether they just supply the parts needed to make both?

It says "model" but it looks like a conversion pack.

Or if they are vehicles or swarms- page 90 of the rulebook under "scoring units"

My thoughts exactly. Will definitely enquire before purchasing one.

Point taken. But considering that most swarms state they aren't scoring units and there aren't a lot of pure vehicle troop choices, it's probably a rule most people are bound to forget. Transports are listed under Dedicated Transports so I never considered them troop choices, even when bought for one.

Personally, I don't understand why this wasn't a fast attack choice.

The email states that it is a complete kit

"Commonly found amongst the raiding forces of the Eldar Corsairs, the Eldar Wasp Assault Walker confers additional protection and manoeuvrability to the pilot. Jump jets are added to the sturdy War Walker chassis to bolster this already potent weapons platform with deceptively swift movement.
The Eldar Wasp Assault Walker, designed by Will Hayes, is a complete resin and plastic kit. Full background and technical details for this unique addition to the Eldar arsenal will be printed in the forthcoming Imperial Armour Volume 11: The Doom of Mymeara, but as an advanced preview, these experimental rules are available to download.

The Eldar Wasp Assault Walker is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing the 28th February, and we have lots more Eldar releases to come over the next few months so keep an eye out for future Newsletters."

EDIT: Which makes it good value priced against the standalone plastic kit. For those in Aus it will be cheaper to order the kit delivered to your door than buy the plastic kit at Aus RRP!

Have to agree- the amount of people I've seen trying to claim that Death Company Dreadnoughts are troops and hence scoring really makes me wish that GW would just put a disclaimer in the army list saying- "Remember vehicles don't score". One extra line in the book would have saved a lot of people so much frustration.

I also have to lol @ the pricing too, as Lostinthedark says it's actually $NZ5 cheaper than the GW warwalker- shipping will put it just over if you're only buying one at a time but I can't say I've ever seen an eldar army with just the one warwalker, it's always been multiple or none.

Because Warwalkers are walkers, which are vehicles, which can't hold objectives.

These are awesome and just what eldar needed, congrats FW for making a useful thing for once =)

If it were scoring it would be far too good

able to leap on objectives like jet bikes
more shooty that rangers and guardians ( at range at least)
not going to run off

and flexible not just in gun lay out but any thing that can out shoot you you can charge in.

is it me or is that a cheap bright lance for bs 4?

my worry is that it makes normal war walkers extinct

does FW rules make their way in to the dexs, yes FW models do some times make it to the main stream plastic but do the rules go with them?

war walkers as troops may help our fire power problems ( yes we have good guns and some good bs but not many heavy weapon " slots" e.g guard def = 1 slot 1 war waker =2) and walker vehicles as troops does have some presidents (orks + BA)

I don't think it will replace war walkers. I could see taking 3 Wasps with Bright Lances and 3 War Walkers with scatter lasers for example. More of each if using Spearhead.

HQ: Avatar

Troops: Wasps x 3
Wasps x 3
Wasps x 3
Wasps x 3
Wasps x 3
Wasps x 3

Heavy Support: War Walker x 3
War Walker x 3
War Walker x 3

Who cares about winning or losing? This would be hilarious. Outflanking and Deepstriking everywhere.

I included the Avatar because he's the only HQ the size of a Walker.

Thats an ace list. Would be funny as hell to use.

I noticed the Heavy weapons looked cheaper than usual. Maybe thats a new trend?

For me the best thing is THEY AREN'T HEAVY SUPPORT. For me the war walker has never competed with Prisms, Wraiths and Reapers, so mine only ever see the table in Apoc. But now....this changes things. Having them in troops, even when they arne't scoring opens them up more.

Also I hope thats not the colour scheme of the Craftworld being used in the book. Its horrible...
