Around my game store I've heard repeated rumours about the possiblity of an Adeptus Mechanicus Codex and I'v been wonder whether anyone else has heard of this and what the likelihood of the machine cult actually getting their own Codex.

I know a lot of people are planning on using the new GK Codex for their dream of making an Adeptus Custodes army but I have no heard anything about a Mechanicus Codex.

Someone's smoking something. At the moment I don't know of any reason to expect a new army.

God, wouldn't that be amazing.

Another army to add to my Forces of Chaos...Dark Mechanicum...

*dreamy sigh*

There is nothing concrete atm, to my knowledge.
However, this has been discussed at GW HQ, and consensus is that they'd like to do it as a proper codex, not Imperial Armour.

Wait til 6th edition, once every army has been redone.
It's been a while since we've had all-new toys, Tau & Necron first codices were a long time ago, a new race is needed..

Didn't Forgeworld confirm that one of the upcoming Imperial Armour books (12 or 13) will contain an army list for Ad Mech? Tzeentch/Nurgle are supposed to be in there, too.

now how ironic would it be if the new necron book would be pushed back/got its supposed release window "stolen" by the adeptus mechanicus?

"Sorry chaps, you've been replaced by a younger one..."

The whole concept of "bumping" doesn't really represent what the design process is truly like. Plans are made 2 years in advance, if not more, about what will be released and when. It is only to the layman's eye that an army gets bumped in favor of another one.

Jes Goodwin recently said that they would 'like' to do Adeptus Mechanicus, assuming it happens it would most likely be years off.

He also said he'd like them to have a Vampire Counts vibe: mindless infantry controlled by a few powerful characters. Sounds ace!

Man... If they did an AdMech book, it would be the perfect place to re-introduce Knight Titans....

Unfortunately when I spoke to Jes Goodwin he confirmed that Games Workshop would NOT be producing an Adeptus Mechanicus Codex, and had no plans to.

He said that it simply didn't fit in with their plans for 40K, but did say that there is a pretty good chance that Forge World would produce something for them at some point.

Forge World have wanted to do something for them for ages, and Jes described the concept as "Vampire Counts in space".

So effectively no there isn't an Ad Mech Codex coming, and according to Jes there never will be from GW, but keep your eyes on Forge World.

Yo, keep your hissy slap fight out of the thread.

There's been rumors on both the Iron Hands side and AdMech as far as Forgeworld is concerned. They've mentioned interest in doing both recently, which makes me think there may be something brewing. The two would be a very obvious matchup, particularly if they were paired up with a Necron antagonist (although chaos would be a likely candidate as well)

I also emailed FW not long ago asking about some of the Badab war models, as well as asking about Ironhands and admech. They answered all my questions, but didnt touch the IH/Admech ones. I dont want to read into this but usually they'll give you something to the effect of 'we'd like to do those at some point in the future'. So take from that what you will.

Regardless, they've been pretty tight lipped about what's coming up after IA 11

Well IA 11 is rumored to be Eldar + Elysians + Space Wolves, as posted on the main site (http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2011/01/40k-imperial-armor-11-roundup.html). :)

Even still, GW is well known for denying everything until they announce their plans. Look at Dark Eldar and 8th edition Fantasy, they denied, denied, denied until they were ready to show us what they had been working on. So IA 12 (or maybe even 11) may have AdMech in it. :)

I find it fascinating that GW would pass up an opportunity like this.

There is obviously a huge market for it.

With regards GW 'never' doing Adeptus Mechanicus armies, I think this is a lot of smoke being blown up our backsides. If the money was there, they'd do it. I think perhaps they would look at the sales of Forgeworld doing it first and gauge whether it was worth producing plastics for it - I think metals are going to become phased out over the next 5-10 years.
Of course, it makes greater sense that Forgeworld would produce an army for AdMech - resin models can be far more detailed. Of course, without an "Official" codex from GW, plenty of whiny beeatches will complain and refuse to play you. But of course, we know these people are douchebags...
I think if there is going to be a new 'race' in 40K, this is the logical choice. Huge armies of cybernetic constructs attempting to sweep all before them, exotic weapons like the conversion beamer making a comeback, mechanised armies coming unstuck and having to footslog it as AdMech weapons/abilities screw up their circuitry - and no great loss if your army is destroyed utterly (well, in fluff terms at least - your Magus won't actually CARE as such!). As for Dark Mechanicus...!!!!
