So there I was, starting to build my Stormraven but unable to decide if the Hurricane Bolters should be on or off.

So with a bit of sprue and some magnets, I made the doors and the sponsons interchangeable.

First I had to put some sprue on the sponson so the magnet would be raised a bit.

Another bit of sprue was put across the door frame half way down. Then it was a case of lining up the midway points on the sponson and then th edoor so they would be interchangeable.

This shows the sponson in place from the inside.

this is such a simple magnetize its almost a crime not to do it!

I only wish valks were as easy to magnetize, my first one is done but its made me not even open the second one... :D

:cool:This is definately a good idea, I did the same with mine, however it is also possible to counter sink magnets into all servitor gunner turret weapons too as I have.:D Thus the one model is capable of being used as any of the predefined variants. unless you want to buy many and glue them each differently hehe.:p

You could always just try a little blob of blue-tack.
It doesn't really stick to the model so it won't harm the paint. It's not the prettiest thing in the world but it doesn't stand out too bad if you use a small enough blob and no one's going to be paying super close attention to where the weapons join the hardpoints/chassis on the vehicle.
It's what I'm doing for my valks/russes and so far it works like a charm. :)

As for the main post, nice job on the magnets. :)
I don't have the patience to work on stuff like that, simple as it may be, so I tend to use the blue-tack quick fix mentioned above for parts I want to swap.

One thing I've tried to as often as possible is put the magnets on the model only and then use something magnetic (also cheap) on the replaceable parts. That way you get the most use with as few magnets as possible.

Admittedly, sometimes it really is just faster/easier to use multiple magnets.
