Fantastic work mate. Not sure I like the way the Venom and Raider look, but thats just my personnal preferrance and in no way about how you've done them. The Wyches especially are great!

Looks fantastic, love the paint scheme/color choice. Probably my favorite one I've seen of DE so far.

Dude I really like the work you have going on with your DE. I like what you did with your venom especially. I just got done with my venom converting wise. I am going to add some more spikes and chains, and i still need to mount the guns underneath similar to what you have. But I think you did a very good job.
Nice paint job on all of your characters.

I have to agree with everyone else and complement you on your fantastic work. The only complaints I would have is the pose of the warrior with the skull pole (he looks like he is staring into the sky) and the reddish and yellow highlight of the vehicle sections (just not my taste preference). The schemes and everything else are top drawer!

Thanks for the support guys! Glad my Venom conversion is offering a little bit of inspiration. It's not overly complicated but I did take a lot of time to make sure stuff was symmetrical, etc.

As far as the yellow highlights on the vehicles go, they just looked a bit flat with only the orange. I wound up adding the yellow as a bit of an experiment, and I like the way it winds up looking on the table. I'm hoping to incorporate it a little into the Incubi and the Archon, but mostly leave it out of the troops units.

The "here is my spear" guy looks a lot more natural in person than via photo i've found. Just couldn't quite get the right angle with the camera. The idea was him sort of triumphantly standing atop the helm of his slain foe, eyes raised skyward in bloodlust or something.

On another note, here's my first Trueborn test model. Still waiting for the PVC glue on his base to dry so i can start painting that, but I think he's just about done.

Personally I like the outline color scheme. makes the models look more fluid. As if the vehicle was real and moving the colors would shift in between.

Wrapped up the Hekatrix. Not thrilled with the agonizer or the flesh tones, but other than that I'm pretty happy, particularly with the helmet. Enjoy!

Stupendous job again. I like the way the lines are neat, and the helmet has a good blend going on with it too.
I am having troubles with my skin blend too. Part of it is laziness. But I am trying to paint 15 wyches and I don't have the time to do a 6 stage skin paint job. I am trying to do it in 3 and am getting it somewhat happily done in 4 (the white highlighting doesn't take too much time). But the skin is just such a certain way that it sucks to get it just right fast.
What colors are you using to paint your skin?

Just a little technic that I do, take it for whatever it is worth.
Myself I have a hard time trying to highlight clothing like what the wyches are wearing. It is hard to get the line nice and tight without it getting too sloppy. So what I did is I dry brush the suit non-armour parts and then do a clean up with the choas black and a wash of badab black and I think the dry brushing turned out pretty good.
Just a technic I do.

What colors are you using to paint your skin?

Personally i'm using Dwarf Flesh, highlight Elf Flesh, wash Ogyrn Flesh, highlight elf...and then maybe an extreme half elf/half bleached bone

But then mine are quite fresh faced, not pale and sullen like most DE. But I have creative reasoning for that....

Thanks for the props and suggestions guys.

Right now I'm just washing Dheneb stone with ogryn flesh, then going over with Dheneb again. I think I may try washes with purple or blue to give it more of an alien eerie look.

Probably won't get too much done on the painting front over the next week or so due to exams for school, but I should have a tourney batrep up with some pictures perhaps from this saturday.

Another Wych is finished! I used a new method for the flesh that I like a bit more, although my technique is not perfect. I based with Dheneb Stone, washed with Leviathan Purple, layered with Dheneb Stone, then Highlighted with 50/50 Dheneb Stone/Skull White.

Aside from the purple, this is exactly how I do Raven Guard skin.

I usually substitute the purple with Ogryn Flesh, though I tried the blue on once, and it didn't look half bad.

Great work on the hair and the highlights on the body suit, though I think you went a bit heavy on the wash in the recesses of the skin.

Quality work though, I bet this army will look great on the table.

Hey everyone, been a while since I last updated but school and life have seriously been cutting into my painting time :p

Anyways, the Wyches are finally finished! Well, except for basing anyways, but I can't look at them anymore for the time being. I feel like I'm getting a better instinct with the skin and trying not to wash too heavily with the purple. I've also fallen victim to the conversion bug. Little pieces of Dark Elf Corsairs keep popping up on my Wyches.

Really like the army. Overall great work. Only think i don't like is the color of the Inccubi helmets. but hey, thats just my bad taste :D

Unfortunately I only had the one soul trap that GW decided to give me from a very static looking base model. I would love for him to look a bit more fluid/leaping rather than kinda levitating, but with my minimal greenstuffing skills where they are I'm pretty happy with how he came out.

Besides, if that thing's glowing, and he's floating, and he's now Strength 10 from baboon-slapping your army's leaders and capable of palming landraiders, are YOU gonna take it from him? I, personally , will be running as fast as my legs will carry me. Hopefully fear can power me all the way to Initiative 7 to get away :P

If you'll take my word for it, they look a good deal cooler in person. However, I was torn about what color to paint them initially, and I'm still not sold on the fact that a white helmet like in the codex wouldn't look better. I'd also like to do a Klaivex with a helmet similar in scheme to the Hekatrix's faceplate to differentiate him.

So, overall, was more an elimination of other options I wasn't sure would work. And I was inclined to make the helmets different colors from the standard warriors to continue to differentiate them while staying within the primary scheme.

I'm open to suggestions though, I've still plenty more to paint and that head is a day in a cup of paint thinner away from getting redone =)

I like the slightly careless way the Archon is holding is soul trap, looks like he is saying:

"Yes, i'm holding this soultrap in a nonchalant fashion, what of it? You want to take it from me, primate? Come and try, why don't you? See this huskblade here? I stick this up you and it sucks your juices out faster than you can say 'Oh, God, please don't suck my juices out'.

It fits the Dark Eldar arrogance and contempt for the lesser races.:)
