I've been looking at my DH codex and the Inquisitor Lord Independent Character and his Iron Will special rule.

Short version is that it lets him pass or fail any morale/pinning test, and provides the same benefit for any squad he joins.

So I had the idea of "What if the Inquisitor Lord was attached to a Grey Knight Terminator Squad? Does his Iron Will override their Fearless?"

Now I'm aware the Inq Lord needs to start the game with his retinue, and iirc, cant' leave it until it dies. But assuming he became a proper IC, this is theoretically possible, correct?

specific overrules general. i don't have my DH dex at hand, but if the GKTs are listed as having the fearless USR, then i suppose your interpretation would be mechanically correct. the fluff, on the other hand, would make me want to cry.

it does override... how you get a IL into an IC though....usually he dies by the time that happens..

take Alcoyltes and shove all the wounds off on them.

I'm not sure which rule would have precedence. Iron Will would allow the Inquisitor Lord's Unit to choose to pass or fail, but Fearless would mean that they automatically pass.

fearless is a universal rule that would be overridden by the specific one in the inquisitor lord's profile

Naw, the Inq Lord convinces the GKT that they need to fall back in order to better kill Chaos.

I thought it was "re-deployment to a tactically more advantageous position further ahead of the enemy than the current position".
