Would fielding Shrike make your Dreadnoughts Fleet?
Lending itself to: Shrike plus a Master of the Forge and 6 Fleet Ironclad Dreadnoughts!

No he doesn't.
Shrike replaces one army wide special ability for another army wide special ability, and the Dred doesn't have the initial special ability to be swapped out in the first place.
Make sense? What is switched out, I forget the name....

You may exchange Codex Marines' "Combat Tactics" for Shrike's "Chapter Tactics". Like Buffo said, the unit must have the Combat Tactics special rule in order to exchange it. (Ironclads only have 'Move Through Cover')
Still, nasty idea if it could have been pulled off.

Thank you very much for helping both of us out :)

an example where the dreadnought benefits is Vulkan's Chapter Tactics. All units lose combat tactics, however, all melta weapons, flamers gain twin-linked and thunder hammers become master crafter.
The difference is that the Vulkan's Chapter Tactics benefits doesn't effect units, only weapons, whereas the drawbacks only effect units with 'combat tactics'.
