I was watching my SCTV volume 1 DVD set for the first time tonight and saw more than one great sketch I did not remember. One of the most prophetic was a sketch making fun of Siskel & Ebert's At The Movies and Star Wars. The movie they are reviewing in this parody is Star Wars Episode XCV, Empires Are A Girl's Best Friend. Nearly 20 years before George Lucas made additional somewhat ill-received Star Wars sagas, SCTV envisioned what was to come.

You can watch the 3-minute sketch, starring Joe Flaherty and Dave Thomas at:

It was great discovering that no matter how many times I see it, SCTV is just as great as it was the first time all those years ago, with hours and hours of great, timeless comedy. Count Floyd, The Great White North, the movie parodies, all of it just as funny as ever.

The Leave It To Beaver 25th Anniversary Party from this DVD set is also on YouTube. It's a parody of those lame TV series reunion shows they often do years after a show has had its day.
John Candy is the not-so-innocent-anymore Beaver!
